Music Giants?

Postby BigJon@Work » Tue Jan 31, 2006 8:13 pm

I'm of the opinion that most mp3s sound like crap. This site seemd to offer a solution:
http://www.musicgiants.com/story.aspx

I was wondering if anyone here has ever uesed their services? They don't let you browse unless you download software first. I'm not allowed to do that here at work.

See, OT, here's another one.

WMP allows you to rip CDs to WMA format, which is what that site seems to prefer. On my list of projects is a task "rerip, rearrange, reload" the music on my portable player. My preliminary experiments show that I will get better quality and more music.

I didn't see much there that I wanted to get, though. But "stuck in the sixties" is reasonably accurate description of my pop music preferences.

I'm hoping from their name that they would add these. Where did you find a list of artists?

It's true that the files I rip to WMA from CDs sound better than the mp3 stuff. Except that the car stereo won't play WMA, so I still need copies or mp3's there.

The catalog is not all that impressive. I looked in "folk" and the Weavers weren't there. Odetta wasn't there. Arlo Guthrie wasn't there. Woody Guthrie wasn't there (How can you have Folk without the Weavers or Guthries?)

I did smile a lot at the "rock" listing. It's better. But for those of us stuck in the '60s, it's not going to be all that appealing.

Your car plays MP3s? Cool.

Neither of my cars will play digital media. My NEW car is a '92.

When we were in California for Christmas, our rental had an aux input on the radio, and my portable player worked just fine through it. Of course, I missed KRTH and KMZT enough that I didn't spend much time listening to the same old stuff I can listen to every day on the bus.
