Hey Shos!

I think I'm not alone in saying your composer bio's are sorely missed. Those of us who copied you were mere pretenders to the throne, all in all simply flattering and amplifying your accomplishment.

I believe Hal has every intention of rejoining the fray. He's been busy with the MIDI compostition bunch.

Thank you all for the votes of confidence. I can't remember all of the bios I've done, so that there might be repetition. I also started to run out of ideas as I was running out of steam. So I'll give it some more oomph, but it won't be monthly. :) :)

Off the top of my head, there is a ballet that drives me buggy. It's a kind of celebration that includes murder and a life cut short by natural causes. The web of intrigue involves many characters, and the entire story takes place out of doors. The whole work takes about 45 min. There is a more popular suite that is reduced to about 20. That should be enough for starters. Please no direct answers. Be obscure with hint answers, so I'll have work to do, too. I don't have Beethoven e-mail any more, so PMs won't reach me. Try othershos at aol dot com.

Was the composer of this ballet a competent jazz composer?

Hi Bones. I don't think so. However, he knew about jazz (thus setting the era).

Hi Piq, it's been awhile since I've been here.

Shos, you said to be obscure, so I tried. Anyway, I sent you a direct guess by email.

Is he western European?

Playing 20 Questions? That works for me. We know the composer was aware of Jazz, so he's 20th C. He was western European. "Was" is obviously another clue. Here's another hint. The ballet story contains no people.

I don't think so. He died in his home country. But he did visit the USA at least once to attend a festival that included some of his music.

The composer of Ballet X wrote a better known (than X) ballet (call it Y) on a mythological theme. A countryman also wrote a VERY famous ballet on a mythological theme (call it Z) with which Y is considered by some as a poor man's version of Z.

I hope that's still a bit obscure.
