Board Upgrade

Postby CLarsen » Thu Apr 20, 2006 8:46 am

Hello,

As a part of a massive network upgrade, this Sunday we will be migrating the Bulletin Board to a new program called phpBB. The process will likely take a few hours and the board will be closed during this time. All of your posts, preferences, etc will be transfered, and yes even your rankings :0) (though the ranking structure may change a mite) The new software has all of the features of the current system though you may have to do some things differently. If you wish to bone up on the new software before we implement it, pop over to phpBB.com and look for the "Using phpBB" instructions. Thank you for your patience!
Sincerely,

Hey, if it fixes the automatic log-out problem, I'll be happy!

It will take care of the login problem for now.

Don't count on it. My other main board is a phpBB and it has been logging me out every day too. :(

I have a complaint.

The 'old' version of the board would let me go "back" a screen if I tried posting and had incorrect login info. That screen would still contain the contents of my intended post.

This version just takes me back to a blank screen. Very frustrating.

Piq - that happens to me on other boards I subscribe to, and I have got into the habit of NEVER leaving a screen on which I had typed something, without <CTRL A> and <CTRL C> first.
Sort of like NEVER posting snailmail documents anywhere without retaining a copy...

I used to have that problem with the old board too. somtimes. depending on the feng-shui.

Yup. Control-a control-c gets to be a really, really fast key reflex. Sort of like the way we type our names, or the word "the".

Feng-shui seems to improve if there are a chicken stuffie and a cat stuffie near the monitor, and a voodoo fetish hung on or over the computer. A small potted geranium doesn't hurt, either.

I often have a real cat improving the feng-shui of my keyboard at home.

I have two voodoo fetushes hanging on my comupter and the feng-shui is still inconsistent. unfortunetely my father is allergic to cats. that's the problem with the local Feng-shui!

I guess I'm supposed to have voodoo fetish, not a voodoo fetush. that's the problem!
