I can't attest to wide enough experience to have a "favorite," but I have two recordings by Christopher Parkening, and I have heard him live once. In all cases, I enjoyed the performances a lot.

Hi Darren-
Well you know my favorite
But Val Ramos holds a place in my CD player. He is an outstanding performer! You can find out more about him at www.ccgs.org (the CT Classical Guitar Society) and then click on "Teachers and Performers"

Christopher Parkening is considered one of the greatest, and then there is Segovia...Try Pat Metheny too. He is not classical, but he is smooth jazz, but not boring elevator jazz...
Favorite Classical Guitarist?
Ah, some fellow named "Darren Curtis Skanson". Heard of him?
What got me started was Beethoven.com played "Classical Gas". Well, Mason Williams (the composer) is an all time favorite of mine. I was luck enough to hear him play in a local "tavern". He played more than what was on his albums (or played on the Smother Brothers' Show). He was/is a fine Classical Guitarist.
When I heard Darren's version of "Classical Gas", I was hooked. Then I paid attention to "Rondo for Michael". I bought "Classica". WONDERFUL! I bought a copy for my brother. He's hooked.
Beautiful music, Darren. You got a fan here!
Donna
PS: I know you weren't looking for laurels for yourself. You got them anyway!
