He wrote "Tubular Bells", for which the beginning was used in "The Exorcist" film.

Was just going on a hunch.....plus I'm also wanting to get Tubular Bells.

Anyhooo....my next question is: Is this composer also a conductor?

it seems a recap is necessary:
Live composer, born in Americas (not South america), piece involves vocal (technically speaking), no synthesizer. his music was used in Motion pictures, but he didn't win any academy awards. Not Mike Oldfield, not known as a conductor.
