I'm going to guess my favorite Kreisler, and then bow out.

we usually didn't count the guesses as questions, but you can change that if you want...

is it one of the "...in style of..." pieces?

24) Is the piece in the style of Pugnani?

Yes.

P.S. Sorry it took so long to answer. This topic didn't appear in the 'view posts since last visit' heading, as it should have.

25 ) Is it in the style of a dance?

Not being a dancer, I had to Google a bit to get an answer to that one. :D I had not considered it a dance, but I do see from Google that more than one ballet company lists performances that are 'based on' this work. That's the best answer I can give, being in no way an authority on dance music.

hint: a minuet/menuet/menuetto is an 18th century dance...
but I'll assume you know that, and therefore I guess that the piece is Praeludium and Allegro in the style of Pugnani by Kreisler.

Correct, it is the Praeludium and Allegro. You get to do the next 30Q, and my post count will suffer. :D

For those not familar with the work, here is a link: Praeludium and Allegro in the Style of Pugnani by Fritz Kreisler performed by Joshua Bell, from The Kreisler Album.

BTW. Yes, I did know that a minuet is a dance, but I had forgotten that he had done one in the style of Pugnani.

I never heard either piece, I just checked the Bell album online. I definitely should give that CD alisten, since I'm working on a virtuosic violin duet now, and am learning everything i can about idiomatic violin writing. I listened to the Paganini caprices 4 times in the last couple of weeks, and studied a score with fingerings.

I have the The Kreisler Album, by Joshua Bell, and it's very good. While looking for info to complete this 30Q, I saw this CD: Midori: Encore! which is now on my wish list.

I also have Kreisler: Souveniers on vinyl, Kreisler playing Kreisler. Very good!

I see that Gilles Apap, of The Transylvanian Mountain Boys fame, has a solo album with works by Kreisler as well. I started a thread a while back on Kreisler, but I think it died a quick death.
