Is the composition pre 1600?

Sorry for the repeatedly mundane questions, but I'm so unfamiliar with "earlier music". Gotta narrow this down as much as I can. :D

Was the composer a Neanderthal? :?

I'm so lost at a period so long ago...it's almost spooky!

OK...serious question time...from the top of the list of French composers at Wikipedia

Is it Guillaume de Machaut?

I think it's time that I use your clue (aka Rummage through the archives :D ).

Is the composer Perotin? With just a couple of major works, I'm not sure what to guess at the moment (assuming it is Perotin). (Guess we have to resort to "does the name of the composition begin with the letter __ ? :D )

Thanks, Ray! :)

I saw a site which classified Perotin's two most famous organum quadruplum as 'Sacred, Motets', and another site which said about one of those two "This performance has an added text which transforms it into a motet." So, I'm assuming that you're referring to the "non-motetised" versions. (I'm really confused! :? )

Okay, here's question number 30. Is it known for a piece of text (which converts into a motet, I suppose) by Philip the Chancellor?

Thanks for this wonderful 30Q, *ig! It shows that there was much more before Bach and Vivaldi.
