I am looking for suggestions for new talent on the classical music scene to be featured in a presentation to The Villages, Florida classical music club (250 members) on August 2nd. I am looking for the names of new artists who you believe have the potential for a major career in classical music and who have released at least one recording. These might be composers, instrumentalists, vocalists, conductors, ensembles or all of the above. I will present a brief profile and representative music from each selectee. As a small thank you, I will email each responder a copy of the program guide and a discography of the selections played.
Thanks

Do you have a definition for young? this probably be different for composers and conductors, since they usually take more time to develop a career.
also, what about those who are already well established young stars like Lang-Lang and Joshua Bell, are you interested in getting names such as those?
also, how about young artist with non-comercial recordings?
I'll give you a few names soon.

Joshua Bell is amazing!! I love his work! I also like Chris Botti, but i think he's already pretty well known...maybe?

Also, what about that girl who sang with Andrea Bocelli on his last cd? She's young and pretty good. I wouldn't be surprised if she had a cd of her own out. I don't remember her name, but I can look at the cd when I get home and get back to you.

A clarification. I did not use the word "young" in my search for rising stars in classical music. No, I am not interested in Joshua Bell, a wonderful but well established talent, but fresh new voices just emerging.

I will stick with commercial recordings so that members of our classical music club will have easy access to those they want to follow up with.

I'm a fan of Carl St. Clair, conductor and music director of the Pacific Symphony based in Orange County, California. He has several recordings under his belt, although he's not quite as mainstream as folks like Slatkin and Williams.

for violin you might check out Akiko Suwanai or Gilles Apap (When he's playing seriously he is very good, and when he's clowing around he's, well, he's still very good).

For piano, you might try Gabrela Montero or Julliane Markavich (a B.com favourite).

for composers try Matt van Brink, he wrote a piece called Dal Dosai. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002ATZA4/104-2232580-0611926?v=glance&n=5174
there's a soprano I once raved about, whose now starting to make a name for herself. Larisa Yudina. I couldn't find a recording, but she's worth the effort, looking for the recording, she'll become a TOP star (barring voice problems).
try Konstantinos Papadakis, piano. I'm sure he recorded something.
