Revenge Aria

I thought this needed its own topic. I think Sumi Jo's performance of it is an amazing accomplishment. Those high notes have such purity and unforcedness about them that it is hard to believe that a human being is making the sound. Doesn't b.com play anyone else's version though?

They played an English-Language version of it - once. I've never heard it again. It was something Nicole Marie found in the basement - a CD of English language versions of Operas or Opera arias, I don't remember which.

I've never heard them play any other version. I have two different recordings of it at home - The Amedeus Soundtrack and another, but neither is as good (or as bad, according to some on the board) as the Sumi Jo version.

She does it well. It still hurts my ears.

Maybe we could have Bryn Terfel singing it? That would be a nice change.

A woman in the RB Chorale auditioned a piece from some Broadway show titled something like "The Girl in 14G".

It involves singing a portion of the Revenge Aria. I was impressed with how well Marilyn handled it.

I was stunned she didnt get a spot in the June concert (because the entire song was well done, as well as the RA excerpt).
Altoid - curiously strong.

Avoiding any connection with the piece for as long as possible.

I'm with Selma on the painful part, but I'm about as qualified to judge Sumi Jo's performance as I am to judge how liver is cooked.

With a little bit of bacon, lots of onions and tomatos, plenty of black pepper. :yum: Garlic potatos, green beans...

Thank you so much, barfle. Now I'm going to have to stop at the store on the way home, hunt for a nice piece of liver.

My guess is that it will still taste (and feel) like liver.

Is Olivia in Kansas City reading this thread? (Hi! Olivia, if you are!)

I see that she requested the Revenge Aria in English, which I've not heard on B.com in a long time. Odd that she would request it just as we're discussing it.

Unfortunately, I see that the music log entry did not list the singer of it. I will have to say that Sumi Jo does sing it better, IMHO. Her singing has more of that liver flavour, and isn't overpowered by the onions. :D
