Serenity wrote:Did you read about the Thirteenth Sound Theory? I'm curious as to what his compositions sound like now. He designed and had instruments made based on the theory. I'll have to track one down; maybe Stokowski's performance of Carillo's Horizons Symphonic Poem for Violin, Cello and Harp in Quarter, Eighth and Sixteenth-Tones.

He seems to have forayed into two topics which I like (Music and Physics), although I'm an expert in neither.

Or maybe we can put a request to have it played on B.com

My thougts, exactly. :D

Well then, you should place music and physics under interests in your profile.

the wikipedia article about Juan Carillo Trujillo is one of the worst I've seen. probably written by a Mexican, since the English is pretty bad (I'm not saying Mexicans can't write good articles).

Hey, I should get credit for that question (unless it's the wrong guy). I've spent half an hour trying to log on, and then having to get a new password to do so.

16. Silvestre Revueltas? YES

The article on Carrillo is pretty bad. It is probably a translation from an original in Spanish. In fact, the Wikipedia article is plagiarized in its entirety from the external link at the bottom of the article. The link is to someone's blog on a school website but it is in English. Wonder where he got it.

Recap: The composer is Silvestre Revueltas (Mexican), after having eliminated Carlos Chavez, Manuel Ponce and Julian Carrillo.

The work was published in the 20th century, before 1950 but not between 1912-1916. It has vocals and is not in D minor.

17. Film Score? NO (it's not the Pancho Villa movie)

I need to clarify something...

A work is classified as Vocal is if it has a one or more singers. If so, is an opera a vocal?

A work is classified as Choral if it involves a Choir.

Correct?

Since you say it has vocals, does it mean the work involves a singer(or possibly singers) and a choir?

If the question is meant specifically for me, I consider vocal to be broader in scope than choral, yes. A choir has a specific number of participants per part. When I say it has vocals, I meant it in the broader sense of the term. The piece may have a choir but not necessarily. Clue: the work was expanded after it was composed.

Oh well, I knew I should ask a few more questions, but I was afraid someone was gonna pull a "Serenity" and sweep it from underneath us! So I thought I'd take a guess!

I'll be on and off today also, my cubicle looks too clean and needs messing up to look as if I've been toiling hard all morning!

The final question was specifically meant as a 30Q question. As for clarifications, I'm ready to learn whatever the knowledgeable people here have to offer me. :)
