Recap:

French composer who is Claude Debussy.

A 20th Century piece, prior to 1950.

It is orchestral, and a harp as highlighted instrument. It is not a concerto. No costumed people moving around on stage, and there is no singing.

Yes! Congratulations Shap! :flex:

Sorry, Navneeth. I could tell you were close to answering, you were just simply beaten to the punch by Mr. Shap. 8)

I like this piece by DeBussy. It is a beautiful piece, that doesn't get as much attention it deserves, compared to Prelude d'un apres-midi d'un faune, or Suite Bergamesque (Clair de lune) or Reveries.

The floor is yours Shapley!

Darn it! :D

Now I have to :flex: my mental muscles and come with a piece.

I'll be away from the computer this afternoon, so it may be a while before I can get back with answers. Plus, I have to research them in order to be correct.

I'm not familiar with this particular work by Debussy. I think it's time to hit the ol' request button!

I'll do the same. Multiple requests for the same piece sometimes get quicker action!

Nav really narrowed it down to one possible piece...

it's a very good piece easily superior to Suite Bergamasque and Reverie. I wouldn't list Suite Bergamasque and Reverie on the same level as Prelude to afternoon of Faun. but, yes, they're very popular.

However, Shap did come up with the harp clue.

I was fortunate to have heard 'Prelude to afternoon of a Faun' in a Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra event last year, along with a Khachaturian Violin Concerto and Beethoven's 7th Symphony.

Prelude to afternoon of a Faun is one of my favs!
