Name of piece I can barely describe?

Postby kenai » Wed Aug 02, 2006 4:44 pm

Ok, here goes.
This is a really intricate organ piece. Stirring, etc. Wild guess, mabe a multi-fugue by Bach. The theme goes like this (stifle laughter for a moment):
Dee Dee Dee da-du-da

the Dees are higher, mabe quarter notes.
Drops to a "da", a 1/16 note?
drops to a "du", 1/16 note?
raises back to the "da" again, also quick.

Again, very complex (to me). Makes me think of the Hunchback of Notre Dame, which I have not seen in thirty years. I picture someone playing alone at the end of a dark cathedral.

Not sure about the dees and das, but you could be talking about Bach's toccata in D minor, a common piece used in horror and action movies:

Here's a link: Toccata in D minor

Whew! From the dregs of memory. So it was the Phantom.
Thanks, Shapley, for figuring that out with such poor description. I guess my Dees and das didn't matter, eh?

No, the dees and das helped, but I think it needed a du on the end. :D

OT, Is that You're my pizza mama"?

No, but it is a song. And, don't forget, I'm looking for the name of the composer.

Rossini composed it. Spike Jones played it. There's an apple and an arrow involved. Visuals by the Monty Python parrot (the arrow missed the apple, very sad.)

Buzzzzz! Composer too early, player too late. Lots of arrows, but no apples.

I was going to go with Francis Scott Key, and The Star Spangled Banner, but I think it's missing a da or a dee somewhere.

I'm thinking it was Paul somebody, but I'm not sure if it was Williams, McCartney, or Simon.

It's not Habanera, but you're getting close.

Piq's getting even warmer.

Okay another hint:

"Dah dah daaaaah daaaaah, dah de dah daaaah. dha daaah, de dah daaaaah, dah dah daaaaaaaah..."

Absolutely, as soon as someone gets it right.

I told y'all, nav and Piq were on the right track.
