No....I change my mind. It can't be "Rachy" or "Shos(1)" because they were both born in Russia. The composer is question was born in Eastern Europe or former USSR bloc country.

Careful, Serenity. Are you sure? My question was: Is the composer Russian or from the former U.S.S.R.?

It isn't a mutually exclusive question. :confuscious:

11. Is it Sergey Rachmaninov?

Yes, despite all the following attempts to talk you out of it. Apparently there are several transliterations of his name, so I won't be picky about the spelling. He was born in NW Russia, near Novgorod if I remember rightly. Also, Russia is one of the former Soviet territories.

11a. Who is Aram Khachaturian?

An Armenian composer.

11b. Who is Igor Fyodorovich Stravinsky?

Another Russian composer.

Can I go now, please, Special Agent Malone? (':detective:')

12. Is it a concerto?

Yes, though it's not called one. (That's probably a dead giveaway).

dai,
It would be better if you posted the summary in the second page, and if required, in subsequent pages, rather than the first. But now that we know it is a one-movement concerto by Rachy, you needn't worry about that for now.

Sure did! "Rhapsody" it is.

My choice was inspired by the new CD I have of the Rubinstein/Reiner recording. It's the definitive version IMO.

Yay!!!!!! The crowd goes crazy!!! :grouphug:

:#1:

I don't know much about Rachmaninoff. Or is it Rachmaninov? Or Rackolambenstroganoff?

I've only hear one or two excerpts of his music, but he is one composer I wish to explore the works of eventually.

Alright, I'm off to start numero 30 of 30Q! :driver:
