Can we get a clearcut definition of what is included or rather excluded (if easier to determine) of what countries constitute Western Europe?

It's debatable whether my composer's birth was in a country considered Western Europe.

I consider eastern Europe to be the Slavic countries, and any other country that was in the Soviet Bloc. Germany, I consider wholly Western.

I agree that Eastwrn Europe can be defined along the communist era line, with Germany being western, and all countries including Greece etc. east of the line being East.

re European countries: I think we should adopt the stuff that Wikipedia says, be it right or wrong - let's just choose a standard.

Since you are the one answering, Cat, I think it's our duty to ask if the composer's birth and the composition occur in the same century?

Hi. When I read this post, it was exactly mid-day with overcast skies.
