My dad has a large record collection and I remember being about 10 and discovering this piece all on my own. I fell in love with it and the pictures it painted for me. Turns out it's one of my dad's favorites, too. I enjoyed learning that Borodin was more than a composer. Or maybe that he was more than a successful chemist. One day I would like to see a production of Prince Igor.
And I made certain that my girls knew this piece very well before they ever heard of the musical, Kismet.
