Surprise! It's memories (obviously before I was born into these boards!) from 2001! I'm sure there are other interesting threads to be dug up back in the days.. This one took some digging though, unless he was slick and edited the URL, he went back page by page in the all threads display to get back to 2001...

I would have to bring up Copland and question his absence from this thread.. Maybe in quantity or formalism, he doesn't have the credentials as the others that have been brought up, but it seems that the emotion in his works, should get him a mention in a top 40.. Maybe there are just too many good composers. The eyeclose factor for some of his tender works and the blood pumptitude on his energetic works say to me that he is able to craft works that do their job of moving our minds to a different place.

I'll have to think some on whether I can come up with the reasoning to end up with a more subjective list than just my favorites.
