Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli

Could anyone suggest a great recording of Michelangeli's? I recently saw him perform on a special about the greatest pianists of the 20th Century.. I would like to add some of his recordings to my collection... Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I saw that program, too. It WAS great. I have an old Michelangeli LP with Rachmaninov's Concerto #4 and Ravel's G major concerto. I don't know if it's "great", but it's rare. He didn't like making recordings. It may be on CD now. In the back of the Schwann Catalogue, there are listings by instrument. Back in 1995 EMI CDH 64490 was listed for Michelangeli, containing music by Beethoven, Brahms, Granados, Grieg, Mompou, and D. Scarlatti.

Apparently Michelangeli was quite the interpreter of Debussy so I am scouring the shelves at Tower for any discs by him.. Also his Scarlatti is wonderful if you can find it... Schwann catalog.... Where do I find this online or do I have to visit a record shop?

You've probably already tried this, but in case you haven't, go to http://www.cdnow.com and just search for "Michelangeli" with "Artist" as the category.
You'll come up with quite a bit and probably will find discs that have audio samples right there for your enjoyment.
Regards,
Tim B.
