Where did the name "Fur Elise" come from?

Can anyone tell me the history of the name Fur Elise (Beethoven).<P>Bob

Therese was Therese Malfatti. She rejected Beethoven as a suitor the year this famous bagatelle was written - 1810.

Hi Peter. You key in on much that is not general information. Is music your profession, or are you just a great researcher (or both)? Also, do you write professionally?
