Flowerboy, give the symphony its proper time! Maybe we should discuss about it say the next week. Let us not force you to make a judgment you can be ASHAMED later!! Today I bought M 9th (Boulez, Chicago SO). Just WONDERFUL! The first movement is one of the most moving symphonic movements I ever heard! It apparently describes the sentiments of Mahler leaving this life. You have no idea how nostalgic it is! I almost cried listening to it (That -cry just listening to music- is something only Beethoven has provoked me so far) By the way what was the M2 that you bought?

oops!! No, I don't think we have the same. I've been searching and it seems your copy has 83:04 minute length. I listened some samples of Kaplan's on CDnow and all movements are way too fast to me. I found it! Mine is, as I 1st thought, Bernstein with Christa Ludwig (God, I love her voice!
