your Grammy picks

Who wants to call the awarding of best classical album, soloist, instrumental recording, engineer...? I'll start and say that Murray Perahia will get the nod for best solo instrumental recording for his version of the Goldberg. I think he really deserves that one.

Serge,
I saw this thread hanging deftly in the balance for the last few, and decided to visit the recording arts academy for a quick scan of the classical and jazz nominees.
OK, I'm partial, FTR, you rockers that have your finger on the pulse of what is hip, (and the rest of this forum what is politically correct, civilized and sane) I will say that the big prize should probably go to U2. <g>
Murray Purahia recieved two nominations for his Goldberg Variations,.........Best classical recording, and Best instrumental classical soloist w/o an orchestra.
(I am curious to hear the controversial impressions of our classically literate crowd regarding the two contrasting interpretations of this work recorded by Glenn Gould)
I noted another interesting category called "crossover classical",(mind you folks, this is just a generic term for third stream) and was pleased to see Chick Corea and Dave Grusin tucked in there.
Finally, for sentimental reasons, I would like to see Pat "Go Get It".
Ciao~
