ROFL!
My impression was that Edwards was the one that came out swinging. I can't remember what the first slam was but I think it was that "...you still aren't being honest..." remark.
IMO, I think Edwards was 100% correct.
I'm sure Edwards was NOT surprised by the flame-throwing reaction he got from Cheney. The reaction, which was to the effect of what a lousy senator Edwards was: "...I am president of the senate and the first time I've ever met you was when you walked onto the stage tonight" was half as bad as Edwards was actually hoping for. (Yes, I think Edwards was intentionally trying to insite something).
Turns out Cheney was "mistaken". IMO, the remark still hit home. They had only met twice before. The difference between never and twice is slim in my opinion. Cheney made his point.
When the discussion turned to the gay marriage issue, Edwards did a complete 180 on Cheney, complimenting him on the way he handles his daughters lifestyle and how Edwards was certain that Cheney loved his daughter very much etc...
Cheney was very appreciative.
After that, I thought Cheney seemed really, really, really tired. Sort of emotionally drained.
They both did a good job all in all.
