Well, in spite of my preferences, I thought the debate came out fairly even between the two.

I get tired of both candidates repeating themselves again and again. I realize that in the world of advertising and marketing that repetition is everything, but man, I heard you the first fifty times!

The debate is giving me reason not to worry AS much if Kerry is elected. I still don't like him that much, and I still think he'll downsize our military like the Clinton administration did, but I don't think he'd be so bad. (Although we all know where my vote lies) ;)

I hope you guys all had an excellent weekend!

Three mistakes...!

I don't blame Bush for not having a direct response to the three mistakes question - that's a very precarious position.

What struck me was the ONE mistake he did admit to which was appointing the wrong people. As if to say, if anything stupid happened, it was the fool I appointed not me directly.

I wonder if he was talking about Powell.

I had to go through specialized "leadership" training for a big corporate job. UGH!
One of the things that really hit home was how important it is to select staff who consistantly present a differing opinion and communicate it well so you don't get in a habit of automatically discounting anyone who disagrees. After all, you could be wrong.

Also, my husband has to submit to what is known as ChaRM school, Cockpit Resource Management. Same thing. As captain, you know you have the ultimate authority which makes it all the more important to repect your crew.

I've always been leery of Bush being adamant about his correctness in every judgement and surrounding himself with those that are in total agreement anyway. "You are either with us or against us." pshaw

Apparently I'm not alone.

RC,

Obviously, since he didn't want to name names, I can only guess, but I would expect he was referring to some of his judicial nominees, particularly the ones who generated so much controversy in the Senate.

I would also believe that he didn't mean Colin Powell, especially since it is rumored that he was offered the VP spot on the ticket. . .

Overall, I felt like the second debate was a very good debate, as far as debates go in general.
Except for the repetition of the candidates, that is. Well, and since each is stating that he WILL win. I know they're supposed to do that, but it just seems so darned cocky to me. It's a real turn-off.

There was a Newsweek article to the effect that this is exactly the opposite of what Bush did. I guess he was AWOL from that leadership training course, too.

The latest Republican political ads stink! They take Kerry's words out of context and label him as unworthy to lead.

Let's just start advertising Bush as the worst president in the history of the United States!

That bad, eh?

What if a quorum wrote in "None of the Above"? Would the two parties have to go back to the drawing board and try to come up with more acceptable candidates?
Or would they track down some schmoe who actually had the name "None of the Above", and tell him he's been elected president?

Who knows, that guy might be a better president...

What a snooze! If it hadn't have had a Jerry Springer-esque aura from mud-slinging, I would have totally fallen asleep last night.

Seems like no matter what the question is, you get the same answers you heard last time...???

I happened to be on the channel with Peter Jennings who said, right before the debate began, the candidates had better be careful in their answers because they'd both been hit with fact checking and everyone was standing by.

What was it, two minutes before Bush got nailed with the OBL thing? I can't imagine a more obvious lie to get caught in. At least when Kerry lied about Bush it was hard to figure out.

Well, the bloggers have been going crazy with the inaccuracies of each candidate. I think they're both about even with their inaccuracies.

<sigh> Why can't we just put them in a boxing ring and let them beat the crap out of each other??

I'd pay to see that!

Hi RC, what OBL thing did he get nailed with? I missed the debate again, giving me a perfect record for missing ALL of the deborings.

SB, I've often thought that myself. Let 'em beat each other up(although, Kerry's got a size advantage on GWB) - literally, for a change.

We know for a fact they both lie like rugs, yet we're willing...not just willing, but FIGHTING to give one of them the biggest responsibility in the world. What's wrong with this picture?

Kerry:...Six months after he said Osama bin Laden must be caught dead or alive, this president was asked, "Where's Osama bin Laden?" He said, "I don't know. I don't really think about him very much. I'm not that concerned."
Bush: Gosh, I'd -- I don't think I ever said I'm not worried about Osama bin Laden. That's kind of one of those exaggerations.
March 13, 2002, White House Transcript, Bush regarding OBL: "I truly am not that concerned about him"
2002 press conference, Bush regarding OBL: "I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him. I know he is on the run.
"I was concerned about him when he had taken over a country,"

(1) Crap everywhere.
(2) No candidates left, due to mortal decrapification.

Of course, this applies to pooliticians, in general. Not just these two, this year.

Wyle E. Coyote. Write in. Mmmm?
