Sorry I "outsourced" the quote to the wrong person.

No prob, I notice we're nearly interchangable sometimes.
A man is the sum of his actions, of what he has done, of what he can do, Nothing else.

Shap,
Well spoken.

OT,
As a consolation, please realize that the next four years will be a smaller percentage of your life than the last four years were.

OT, there is plenty of reason for Bush to feel he has a mandate, no matter how small the margin. He got over 50% of the popular vote, something that hasn't happened for ages. There are more Republicans in both the House and Senate than before the election.

I don't know if there's a way to let the powers that be understand that there is a loyal opposition out here, and even if they understood that there is one, I don't know if they would pay it any heed.

We have many, many concerns about the direction the United States is taking. The increasing isolationism, the burgeoning debt (being financed by selling a lot of bonds in Asia), the chaos in Iraq, and most of all our ongoing limitations being placed on our liberties are all issues that concern me deeply.

Well stated. For all the talk of Kerry and Bush today about healing and reaching out, I fear it's all talk. We will not see any effort to do so. Bush doesn't know or care how, and he doesn't need to. The guy TALKS a good game, but does not deliver. Time will tell, but I expect no change in what Bush has done so far. His creative titles (No Child Left Behind, Clean Air Act, Medicare + Choice) do not reflect what's done under them.

Some of you might recall my theory that the arts have deteriorated because they went from control by the elite to control by the unwashed. Well, damned if it didn't happen to our democracy, too.
