That appears to be the definition of a bureaucracy. In fact, they approach meeting the definition of 'life'

They reproduce, too. Only this morning I read of a new agency that's been set up; this one to deal with copyright protection for newspapers.

Obama Votes “Present” on 20,000 Jobs

Anyone still believe that Obama actually cares about our country? Or just getting re-elected?

Obama may well have given the GOP a Christmas present as the article says, but that party is in no condition to play with it. At best, they'll squabble over who gets to open it, and wreck it in the process.

The pipeline will get built and the oil will be sold, the only question is will it go to the U.S. south coast or Canada's west coast where it will be sold to the Chinese.

This controversy has pretty much rip the cover off the American environemntal movement. When faced with getting "ethical" oil from Canada or "conflict" oil from the Middle East the environmental movement is quite adamant; neither, 2nd world status was good enough for their great grandparents, it should be good enough for us.

Do the Amish know something the rest of you don't?

The Amish use metal, though. That involves mining. Greenies don't like that one little bit.

OBAMA’S KEYSTONE PUNT WILL HURT U.S. ENERGY PRICES:

Canadian PM eyes China after US pipeline delay.

“Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper said Sunday that he was looking at exporting more oil to China after the United States delayed a decision on a controversial pipeline. . . . The conservative Canadian leader, taking part in a summit in Hawaii hosted by Obama said the pipeline decision had produced ‘extremely negative reactions’ and that he discussed oil exports with Chinese President Hu Jintao.”

Once again proving that what's good for America is not in this president's best interest.

Whether Canada sells to China or U.S. doesn't change the total amount of oil sold, and so it doesn't affect the price.

It would affect our price, because we would have to pay more for transportation for oil from other sources.

So you don't pay a premium to transport oil to Hawaii's refineries? If a large oil field was discovered off of Hawaii yo'd expect to pay the same for gas?

Of course. I know with retail gas, say Brand A and Brand B, having outlets nearer the others' refinery they just swap instead of transport. In that case the Brand B outlets near the Brand A refinery get gas from the Brand A refinery, with the Brand B formula.

It's not unreasonable that this could happen with China, Canada, and the U.S.

"But demand for gas has dropped nearly 10% in recent years. It went from a peak of 9.6 million barrels a day in 2007 to 8.8 million barrels today, according to the EIA."

I think this in part is due to unemployment

Gas prices here in Cape Girardeau have dipped below #3/gal. (to @2.999 per gallon). I have seen them as low as $2.979 in the Bootheel.
