Ford is the only Republican I have voted for, and I still feel he would have been a good choice.

"I voted for him even though I don't know anything about him and hope he really doesn't do all those things he said he would ..."

I didn't. In fact, I wouldn't have voted at all if it weren't for some local issues. I voted Libertarian.

I bet $50 that Sen. McCain would win the election. If I lost, the $50 was to be given to charity. Haggis initiated this on the board in 2004, with the winner choosing the charity to which he donated. I made the stipulation that it would have to be a Catholic Charity (myself being a Catholic), and this time I also added that it should go to help the armed forces of veterans. Upon losing, I opted to donate to the Archdiocese of the Military (USA), a Catholic charity that supports the armed forces and veterans.

I sent the donation this morning.

Frankly, I had forgotten about the bet, but you jogged my memory. If McCain won I was going to donate $50 to the Humane Society or some animal activist group. However, A relative is having a 90th birthday party, and requested "No gifts. Send to charity". So I will probably spread the $50 around to several societies. If I remember, I'll post what went where. If I forget, please someone remind me around Jan 20.

Well, confession time. I said the same thing in 1976 when I voted for Carter.

So, I'll try to avoid any dire predictions or schadenfreude when those unheralded dire predictions come true.

Haggis voted for Jimmy Carter??!  Wow. I would not have guessed that.

I think that's the day they changed the board software. I joined sometime in 2003, as I recall, and haggis was a member in good standing already. In fact, one of OT's favorite people.

I am too lazy to look for the bets. I guess I'll just send some money to Plan International on the offchance.

I remember the software change now. IIRC, there were some problems with some accounts.

I believe he initiated a new login at that time. He was having some trouble logging in, so he just started a new login called "Haggis@wk". He's been around much longer than that. I think he was here before I was.

I first joined as "Haggis" in May 2002. I was unemployed and spent alot of time on the computer and found B.com and started listening. I then got a job in Ohio in late 2003 and didn't do much posting until my job relocated back here in Texas.

I also donated $50 to The Coalition to Support America's Heroes

Knock yourself out but I think "keel" was just the foreign("terrorist") pronunciation of "kill".....
