My father ran a service station in my home town for years. He had two 'soda' machines out front that dispensed the returnable bottles, he refused to switch to canned soda machines. His was the last place in the area that sold Fresca, which he continued to stock due to requests from a handful of local devotees to that particular soft drink.

When he closed the station down back in the '80s, it was the last time I saw Fresca anywhere in the area. It may available be now. I haven't looked. I gave up soft drinks when I was in the Navy.

I suspect that your geographical location might make a difference in what kinds of soda the store stocks. Season of the year might be important, too, for you folks whose years have seasons.

While you're checking the oddball flavors, look for the Sunkist orange. It's better'n Nesbitt ever was. Yum.

And here's an oddball thing. There are two or three brands of canned iced tea. What? I still don't believe anybody would can something so simple as tea. :baffled:

Selma,
We have Loads of Sunkist Orange....

As to canned Iced Tea... all over the place... Nestea I believe is the brand.
I don't see how anyone can drink that out of the can... it always has a "Tinny" taste to it....

I prefer fresh made Iced Tea!!!!

:D

I drink iced tea all the time, but never out of a can. For one thing, I drink unsweetened tea, most places around here that carry canned tea don't carry it unsweetened (it would actually have to taste like tea). The sweetened tea is nothing more than coloured high-fructose corn syrup, the lemoned tea is coloured high-fructose corn syrup flavoured with artificial lemon juice.

I'll brew it myself, thank you!

Unsweetened. Yeccch. As vile a notion as the notion of sugar in coffee.

I'll take my coffee plain, thank you, and the tea should be sweet. Usually with Splenda, occasionally with sucrose.

I love Henry Weinhart's orange cream soda. Ymmm! I went through withdrawals in New Orleans since they didn't sell it. I stocked up on Orange scented shaving cream because it smelled exactly like it...if I had gone insane I would have probably tried to eat the stuff. Now I have easy access so of course I don't buy it very often (It's good but kind of overpriced...for a "frugal" person like myself)

Anyway, as much as I would love to see a woman president, I don't think the majority of Americans would vote for hilary. I prefer Obama. He may need to run as a VP first but he did gain lots of notoriety when he gave his speech at the convention. I didn't realize he grew up in Hawaii. And why does it matter if he grew up priviledged...seems that's the theme of many of our past presidents...why should it matter for him.

Well, I need to get back to reading... tomorrow is the interview lunch with the RRC (they do accreditation for residency programs) and our program wants us to be well-versed in the policies that I vaguely remember reading when I first signed my contract last year. I guess as long as we can say we know where to find the policies that would suffice.

We have Fresca in Vahjinyah, but the peach stuff is for other people to drink. You can order "sweet tea" in restaurants, or add your own adulterants.

'Bout the only soda (pop, to you easterners) I drink is "Sobe No Fear" energy drink in the tall black and red can. Simply loaded with caffeine and sugar. I am sure it's very healthy.

”The First Black Bill Clinton [ahem]

It appears Obama is running--at least, until his lifeless body is found mysteriously in the parking lot behind the DNC headquarters.

We can only wonder what goes on in Hillary’s sharp, bitter, Machiavellian mind as she sits in front of the fire at night, swirling her cognac and wondering what nubile co-ed Bill’s banging now. Life just isn’t fair.

Her greatest moments are yet to come: Hillary Clinton, First Woman President of the United States. But now, all she’s worked for all her life, ever since she was Class President at Maine South High School, is under siege from an articulate, ruthless shit-heel who has more ambition than her husband but who hasn’t even paid his f*****g dues. Ruthless? You wanna know ruthless?

Time to get medieval… “

 Vermont. Moxie is a New England thing. I only know about it because it shows up every now and then on the Food Channel, in one of their regional specials. Or the "Sodapop Unwrapped" thing that comes around every now and then. We have no Moxie.

But then, youse guys have no Rubio's.

Awesome citrus, cherry and cream flavors. I haven't tried the rest.

Their orange and cream drives me nuts. It's just so darn expensive.

I do like Sunkist Orange too.

I brew my own iced tea, with green and black leaves, mix with Splenda and a little lemon, and drink it by the gallon.

Tab is not the same as it was 30 yeas ago. It is now a near-zero calorie drink, where it once was a half-the-calories drink.

For a little pick-me-up, I drink this in sugar free. Much tastier than most energy drinks and not overpoweringly sweet.

Energy drink reviews. They hate NOS.

Jones Sodas are available in this area at the local Panera Bread.

Sobe is available at various outlets, I think Starbuck's is the most common.

I don't drink any of them. Iced tea, water, beer, and wine (not necessarily in that order) for me.

Shapley,

We have a whole bunch of Panera Bread chains that recently opened in my area....

Next time I'm in there... I'm going to check it out...

I have not seen Sobe at Starbuck's... Going there to pick up a gift certificate... I'll see if they are consistant....

I don't drink much carbonated beverages.....

Mostly water and unsweetened Iced Tea!

I eat at the Panera Bread quite often, they have excellent panini's. I've never tried the Jones soda, but they are right there on the counter, so it's hard to miss them. I don't know if it's a local thing or if they all carry them.

We have several Starbuck's in town (doesn't every town?), but I only frequent the one in Barnes & Noble. That was the first place I ever saw Sobe's. I was drinking Arizona Green Tea for a while, and was looking in the cooler for it when I saw the Sobes. Again, I can't say whether or not they are commonly carried there.

The Arizona Tea, like most of the bottled tea products, is more high-fructose corn syrup than anything. I gave them up when I decided to cut my sugar consumption (A goal I've not entirely been successful at achieving  ). Now it's unsweetened tea mostly. I select the restaurants I frequent by the quality of the tea, one more reason I like Panera Bread.
