ROFL! That's too great lioness! If you weren't playing in public, I would sing for you. . .I'm not bad, but once you put an audience in front of me, I freeze up like a lawn gnome. :)

Do you play just rock, or classical too?

What do you think of Tim Reynolds, Dave Matthews, and Sheryl Crowe's playing?

umm... i kinda... really... don't. not my kind of tunes. it's too pop mainstream for my liking.

Trashy <ahem> sorry. classy people stick ceramic gnomes in their flower beds and yards to look "decorative". Creepy little fellas, if you ask me.

Figured you were "harder" (no comments OT)than the people I listed. I happen to love Dave Matthews band and think that Tim Reynolds is an amazing player. . .and Sheryl Crowe has some interestingly tough strings of notes every now and then.

much harder. i know who they are. i just don't enjoy mainstream music of today. modern pop, rock, and even metal all sounds the same to me. if it's only 4 chords, i can do without.

DM has a very large following. he has kept the spirit of 'going on tour with the band' alive much like the Dead have done all these years.

Yeah, he's cool. But even so, I like his old more folksy stuff a lot better than the direction he's been heading recently. The days of Crash were my favorites.

You reminded me of a story when I was in Music Camp, many years ago.

I grew up in NYC. Schools integrated etc....

A bunch of us were walking down the road from Music Camp (the camp shall remain un-named) and noticed one of those "Statues" showing a black man with a lantern adorning the front entrance to this house.

Growing up in the city, we never saw this. Also did not sit well with us since we all came from an integrated environment.

One night at about 3AM we go some white paint and white washed this statue.

I remember how hard it was not to laugh when questioned by the people running the camp after the owners of the house had come to complain.

Never got caught.
We were bad........

ROFL! Verrrrryyyy bad!

Music camps are fun. . .if a bit overrated sometimes. I've been to several. . .first chair sax and all <sniff>. Ok. I'll get over myself. that was a long time ago and I'm really out of practice now.

Once?
At Band Camp?
I was ...

Oh, never mind.

SB,
Do you really :-) mean that being a "Brass" player is conducive to such behavior?

I do not believe a trumpet player just called a saxophone "brass". I am stunned. Reeling. I'd be speechless except that I'm pretty nearly immune to that. If I tell other brass moms, they'll think I made it up.

:appalled disbelief:

Selma,
My comment was to clarify that SB's comment that "such behavior" is not conducive from Sax players and that it appeared to imply this behavior was partaken by Brass players.
Sorry for the confusion.

My best beloved baby boy has a trumpet (which he now keeps parked somewhere between the guitars and the drumset) and I seem to recall being required to pretend to be in charge of a group of brassists on busses and things. Mind you, it's no trouble because they are uniformly polite, civilized, genteel beings; even at the ages of fifteen and sixteen they are incapable of crass or rowdy behavior. <I said that with a straight face, didn't I?>

the Horns are an even more refined group.
