Those crafty B.com IT guys have been up to their tricks again. Without deleting a single message, my 12 page long Saved box is now only 54% full.

Of course, I still have a lot of weeding to do.....

I have to wonder how big someone like Shos' or Barfle's Inbox got with all those old pm's resurfacing from way back when they joined.

This probably is another of those undocumented features that show up in beta testing (I feel beta-ish today. ) and I think we probably need a different message for posting to overloaded PM boxes. Low priority fix, probably.

This is called flood control. It is a recent implementation by the phpBB gurus to prevent malicious hackers from overwhelming the server by sending the same request over and over. I think the default is 15 seconds, but that is customizable be the admins. So take a deep breath, count to 15 and resend your request.

May we have an indicator as to whether the addressee has read the PM? We used to have it, and I dearly loved knowing whether the message had been read or if the recipient had been distracted (probably by their job ), and it's not a button I can find anymore.

If it's there under another name, may I please have the name of the button that displays this? Pretty Please? With sugar and a cherry on top?

In any event, thank you so much for all the hard work and hairpulling associated with this software migration. I know we gritch a lot, but we really, really, really appreciate Chris and Sarge's hard work.)

You can tell if a message has been read by clicking on your outbox link at the top of the private message page. If it is still listed in the outbox, it hasn't been read. The nice thing is, you can edit it if it is still in the outbox and you realize you made a mistake. You can withdraw the message by deleting it from the outbox too.

I still have them, too. But you can only see them from the forum main page. I think that is the same as it was with the 'view active topics' button on the old BB.

BTW - I had b.com inactive on my desktop for 4-5 hours yesterday without getting logged off by it. Yippee!

Oops! I forgot to mention that, by clicking the 'keep me logged in' box, I have been remaining logged in until I delete all cookies, which I usually do at the end of the day.
