Not sure if this will work but it may be worth a shot..

Does your company allow "PC Anywhere"?
We use it occassionally from home to access work...

If they do allow it.. maybe you can use it in "Reverse"

Access your home computer from your work computer... and bring up the b.com site
via your home computer...

just a thought..

I'll check it out tonight. Thanks TM.

The "WTMI" and "WCCCAM" links worked to get to the bulletim board. However, I can't seem to log in on the "member's screens". I can't launch the streams. At least I can check in once in a while on the BBB. I really miss the stream. This is like going deaf when everyone else can hear.

I was able to get to the home page by typing http://www.wtmi.com in the URL address

Are you using Windows XP?

Serenity...I can get on to the WTMI website with the wtmi.com link. I just can't pull up the streaming without betting blocked.

TM, I am at home now and I went to WebEx and set up the GoToMyPC on my home computer. Tomorrow I will try to access my home form work and see if I can do a cut through to the stream. Sheesh, the things you gotta do to listen to a little music.

BTW, the WTMI site BB doesn't work so well. Even though I check the "remember me" box, I have to log in every time I use it.

Jamie,
my thought was if the remote pc software allows access from another computer...
then it might just allow the stream to go through your companies firewall....
hope it works!
Please let us all know...

thanks,
TM

Jamie,

Do you have a big CD collection? Just bring them to work and burn them to your WMP library; once burned, you can listen to them all day and pretend your listening to "our favorite internet station."

...about the firewall, I have this recurring theme in my head from the Pink Floyd album.........

You could record Bolero and that Cuban Rhapsody, then put them on continuous play. Will be just like the B.com stream. (tongue in cheek)

I installed PCNow on my home computer. This AM I tried unsuccessfully to connect to my home computer. I keep getting some sort of error message with WebEx that says "AtMgr has encountered a problem and needs to close." You can click either "debug" or "close". I tried both...same effect. it does not conect. I reported the problem to WebEx and hope to hear from them. For now, I am still "deaf". I have been listening to WGUC and while it's got a nice variety of music, I miss B.com

I suspect that the problem is likely (again) our firewall. Still hoping...

Jamie,
are either of the computers using Vista?
I just read something and it appears using webex with remote access does not work with Vista.

Did you ask IT why you are not allowed access to internet radio?

IT police are not helpful. They are there to enforce rules put upon them. They will not make exceptions etc. There is no dealing with them...they are 3rd party contractors (our IT is all out-sourced)

Our ITiots are also contractors and the rationale for blocking audio streaming is "it uses bandwidth". Bandwidth is apparently something that costs money to the contractor, or reduces the contractor's profit margin, and is therefore guarded by humorless digital hit-men.

At least our contractors are the low-bid guys, and have to continually tweak the servers for every security issue that arises. All their bandwidth blocks have sooner or later gone non-functional because one of the tweaks did something dire to the block and we get audio streaming back for a while.

The last few patches have let WinMedia streams through at work, but they block the specialized player. Maybe the next patch will let the player get through. Let me go find those red sparkly shoes and I'll click my heels, scrunch up my face, and wish real hard. That might help.

**May the security patches befuddle the firewall demons and let the player through.**

Bandwidth does cost money, at least the way internet access is charged for here. That's why streaming radio was forbidden at my last workplace. Even on the basic free stream, and dial-up, I used about 12mb per hour streaming BR. (On my own computer!)

I'm sorry, S. I don't know what it might be, but if there's anything I can do, please let me know, and I will if I can.
