NCOA database::: Black helicopters anyone?

Postby analog » Sun May 17, 2009 9:33 am

suddenly all my magazines, social security and retirement plan mail has been arriving with the wrong street name. I got mad and emailed those companies that peddle address management software to businesses.

then i remembered the census lady was by back in November shortly before all this started.

All Things Considered, July 31, 2006 · Two-and-a-half years from now, in early 2009, the Census Bureau plans to send an army of 100,000 temporary workers down every street and dusty, dirt road in America. They will be armed with handheld GPS devices.

Robert LaMacchia, head of the Census Bureau's geography division, says they'll capture the latitude and longitude of the front door of every house, apartment and improvised shelter they find.

"We will actually knock on doors and look for hidden housing units," he says. "We will find converted garages; from the outside, it may not look like anybody lives there."

But census workers will add each dwelling, legal or not, to the Census Bureau's Master Address File.

The article goes on to say the information won't be released outside the census bureau...

As she was about to leave she asked if i knew the whereabouts of a nearby address and fiddled with her laptop..

Small world, that address she asked about is the one my mail goes to now.

Hmm..... homeland security thinks i live around the corner?

maybe i won't complain.

Hummmm...that may explain it. A couple of weeks ago, we had some guy come to the door and he said he was from the census. He handed me a slip of paper that had some census crap on it and said that they would be mailing every one information and that it was a federal offense NOT to reply. My first thought was "what a colossal waste of tax payer money to have this joker come around to hand me a piece of paper and tell me they would mail information." He thanked me and turned away...I closed the door. Our dog Cassie, however was still interested in looking out the window, and so I did as well, only to see this guy aiming some devise in his hand, toward the house. I never thought a thing about about it...However, after reading t his, I am sure that it was a GPS. Not a real warm and fuzzy feeling either. To my knowledge, he only came to the front door and did not look elsewhere on the property.

Google Earth has been doing this, at no cost to the taxpayers, for years. The census data sounds redundant to me...

interesting.

there's lots of noise on the 'net about the census GPS'ing everybody, of course the excitables say it's a dark scheme by the new world order crowd.

i took a few samples down to the local post office, it's a small town (63) so we're first name basis.
Mary checked her listing and sure enough the USPS's computer file got changed somehow. She said she can put it back.

problem solved - well it was a non problem because there's only one house on each of the two roads involved. We make Mayberry RFD look metropolitan.

however our census lady did make three visits.
Lessee here - i live in Arkansas, go to Idaho a lot, belong to NRA, subscribe to Atlantic and Soldier of Fortune, sometimes peruse the CFR and AlJazeera websites, bought "Rocket Propellant Handbook" and put "Plutonium Handbook" on my wish list at Powell's..... oh the curse of curiosity !
Hmmm.... am i unwittingly building some sort of profile?
