Thanks for pointing that out. I did a little digging, and it turns out his bodyguard (the penalties of fame!) and his bodyguard's sons were killed in the tsunami, so apparently it hit home pretty hard.

I would imagine his being directly affected had something to do with the amount donated, but ten million dollars is a lot of money, no matter who you are.

I'm truly amazed at that amount of money, just donated because he felt it was the right thing to do.

How is that off-topic? On your own board, yet! :)

His body guard was lost in the disaster, so I assume he felt a personal connection.

My buddy asked this question: How much did Barry Bonds contribute? :)

It turns out Barry Bonds is doing something to aid the tsunami victims.

It's not $10 mil, but he's not ignoring the situation, either.

That's true. Even Sammy Sosa, who seemed to be the cleanest of the big hitters, has had his reputation tarnished by steroid suspicions.

Barry's father, Bobby bonds was a pretty good player, but got traded a lot (eight teams in 14 seasons) so he never really built up a good fan base. He was one of the best players for the Angels when they weren't all that great a team.

What a laff, Barry is contributing nothing, NOTHING!

Boy does that grate on me when celebrities sell stuff to raise money for charity. When the fan buys, the fan pays not the celeb. Barry is taking something that is of essentially no value to anyone but him, his time, and getting the slavish to pay for it so it looks like he is doing something. Let's get real!

Of course the Red Sox have the record for strikeouts right now. Good Ol Mark Belhorn!! He may strike out a lot but he did make some clutch hits for us down the road.

Edit: Thanks for the correction.

actually Adam Dunn (Cincinati Reds) broke Bobby's record (189 K's) with 195 K's. Bellhorn just broke the Red Sox record with 177 K's. he walks a lot, so that offsets the K's. they result from his patience (OK, his bat handling isn't perfect either) not from faulty Strikezone judgment. he can get on base a ton without hitting the ball...

Well, the Suntrust team already won the big race.

Sometimes you don't even qualify, sometimes you break early. It's racing, and crud happens.
