Congratulations and 1 question

Postby antaresuy » Mon Apr 02, 2007 8:43 pm

Hi Scott,
I am new listening Beethoven.com. I just found the site last week and since then I'm hearing excelent classical music, even music from composers i didn't like. I am hours sitting in front of my PC working and getting information for my work and it is a great joy listening the music at the same time.
I also noticed, that request can be done. My problem is, that I don't know with which anticipation one can make this request. I already have made some, but unfortunately I couldn't hear my requested music, if it was played. Please be so kind to inform me about the anticipation you need, so I can hear my requested music.
Thanks a lot. You all are making a great job and it is one of the best stations I've heard in the net.
Regards,

Welcome to the Beethoven Bulletin Board Peter in Uruguay! :handshake:

It's so nice to see people from all around the globe enjoying Beethoven Radio (and classical music in general).

I think I remember seeing a request of yours played last week (at least I remember that it was from Montevideo).

I'll let Scott or Nicole answer your question, but they just can't get to all of the requests, because they receive so many.

My best advice is just keep requesting something everyday!

Enjoy the music, and hope you'll participate regularly on the Bulletin Board.

Hello, Peter and welcome to the BBB! We're always glad to have a new member of our highly elite group

When it comes to requests, it helps to make them while live announcers are on duty. Since you're in the Americas, that would be during your normal work day. If Nicole Marie or Scott are on the air during the week, you stand an excellent chance of getting your request played within an hour or two, usually sooner. And I do believe they are partial towards places far from Connecticut.

If you're sending in a request via email, you can request a time for it to be played in the evening, and they will make an effort to play it at that time. Of course, as Catmando noted, there are more requests than can be filled, so sometimes they don't get played.

Thanks Catmando.
The request from Montevideo was surely mine.
I don't expect that all requests are fulfilled, but what I meant was, the chance of hearing my request. So I asked with how much time in adbance i can request to hear something. Can I for instance stipulate a day and an approximate time?

Hi Peter. Welcome to the BBB! :D

When I send a request, I usually do it an hour or so before Nicole comes on air. I make it a point not to send a request too early or not too late, and most of the time Nicole airs it within a couple of hours. But sometimes when you don't get to hear your request on a specific day, they might play it the next day(great people, aren't they? :) ). Also, as barfle said, you can request pieces for particular programmes, like the Mid-Morning Mozart, Bach's Lunch, etc., which you can specify in your request.

Oh, and please try to avoid Bolero. And barfle will be forever grateful if you request the Queen of the Night Revenge aria.;)... just kidding.

Hope you enjoy your stay here at the BBB.

Bolero

Thank you navneeth.
He can be sure I won't make it a request. Its's even not one of my favorites.
As direct descendant from Germans, I like most Beethoven. But also all Strauss, Wagner, Mozart and other European composers are wellcome for me.

Peter, if you don't my asking, is astronomy one of your interests? Although you have not listed it in your profile, the 'antares' part of your username intrigues me. :)

navneeth, my nick is antares, because I'm a scorpion. It's not that astronomy is one of my greatest interests.

Thank you all for such a nice welcome.

Its always great to hear from people all over the globe.

As for requests, just like many others have said already we get tons of requests a day so we may not get to eveyone. Navneeth is right if I cant get to one I will hold it for the next day but not often.

I think the :#1: position is going to his head. He's starting to think he's OT.

Next we'll see him dressed like this:

I would prefer to stand naked in Times Square on New Years
playing Auld Lang Syne than be seen in that costume...
