Hey, lecture was actually quite interesting. He discussed Aristole's Nicomachean Ethics. He mentioned the meaning of "good and bad". And, why something is good or bad. Sorry to get all deep on some of you, it's just something that I'm fascinated with. I'll end this post with a quote that I found funny, and get this, it's not french either. lol<BR>"So I says to the Lama...Hey!..Lama!!!...how about a little something for, you know, the effort. And he says to me, 'you'll get no money from me. However, when you die, you will receive total consciousness.' So I got that goin for me, which is nice."<BR> - Bill Murray from Caddyshack

Hey, cool thread, deserves resurecting, but I think I will let the hijacked pieces lie. (Politics AND Education in one thread!)

Denver is known for The Deadver Nuggets, The HomePark Rockies and Cows and Snow. The last two are actually not as true as the used to be. Lots of city popping up and the big snow is mostly in the Mountains. (Though we do have the Avalanche Hockey here in town..) Um. We have the home of Mork and Mindy nearby as well as one of the most high profile unsolved murders in recent history. Sounds dull, huh? Well you think that, cuz we're growin to fast already! The mountains (REAL mountains) and the nice weather are big enough reasons for me!

Don't forget about the CN tower and the Eaton centre! Ok, the second one is stretching it.

It's a very good thing that SARS was held to hundreds of people in Toronto, but wacky that so few people could make such a mess huh? Did you feel personally threatened through the height of it?

No.... I never saw anyone wearing a mask but I live and work in downtown Toronto and I mean right downtown - not far from the Hard Rock's Cafe, Barfle (thank you for that). We have concerts happening this weekend at the Skydome and the Air Canada Centre hoping to restore tourism. A few of the major theatres are closing down this summer (for the first time) no tickets sales. :(

:( Not personally threatened, but ew, economically it is a disaster, that's bad enough I guess.

Just curious.

Valley Center, Ca. Besides Avocados...In 1866 the largest California Grizzly Bear ever captured was taken in the town. It weighed 2,200 pounds. Valley Center was named Bear Valley or Bear Valley Township. Then some other back-water little wide spot in the road decided it wanted the name Bear Valley. So, our town name was changed in 1874 to Valley; in 1878, to Valley Centre; and, in 1887, to Valley Center. (No, OT. I wasn't present at the time! ;)

So, Ms. Valley Center Expert,

Why is it called Valley Center when every road leading to it is uphill?

First, to be correct, it probably should be called Plateau Center. It is a plateau.

Second, not every road leading to Valley Center is uphill. Those coming from Palomar Mountain(etc) are downhill. I even go downhill to get to Valley Center proper. And, yes, we are quite proper ;)

If do look around Valley Center, you actually are surrounded by hills and mountains.

Nope, not buyin' it. Ya gotta go down into Pauma Valley from Palomar and then go up to VC. Nice try, though. :p
