I heard a news item yesterday that Fresno Unified School District is facing a budget deficit and will most likely cut the elementary school music program. It's probably a rhetorical question, but why is the music program always the first to be cut? <P>A school board member who was interviewed said that they considered private funding for the sports programs, but decided it would result in a slush fund for mens sports! Why not look to private funding for the music and arts programs? I don't live in Fresno, but I'd be willing to put money into their music program.
