That's all Div I. As for Div II, it's

1. Esperanza
2. Spartans
3. Patriots

Spartans and Patriots have my permission to switch places, but Esperanza has to stay first. I insist. The Div II preliminaries start today, and Esperanza is scheduled to close the division; this is a good thing. Deb called in last night and the kids are wound up tight; they tweeked the ballad and the closer yesterday. They have the closer up to Div I speed, and the color guard is hot.

I shall be watching as scores post, along with all the nervous mommies and popsies.

I wish I was in Orlando...

DCI Div II/III prelims have gone on break for the afternoon - now I can be less schizophrenic for a while. I've had b.com open in one Explorer window, the dci scores in another dci scores and Quicksilver and Word and Acrobat open in yet more windows, trying to do some actual work.

The Sandy Eggo Div III corps, Alliance, didn't do too badly. But I'm waiting with scant patience for my Esperanza to take the field, last thing on the schedule, at 9:22 tonight, Orland time. <biting nails, fidgeting in chair>

Good luck to Deb! :D

After seeing the show in Boise and watching the hole that I could have been marching in in the Blue Knights, I think I'm definately going to march next season.
Great news about Alliance. I was in a corps that shared about the same tour schedule a couple years ago.

You going to try to make it to Denver next year? That's probably as close to the west coast the finals are going to get, though being from western Idaho/Eastern Oregon, I'm hoping to see finals in Portland someday.

Here's a drum corps prediction. Me, expiring of anxiety! :(

Deb called, they're in the bus on the way to the performance field, and it's raining. Buckets. :(

The "Live at the Show" website has been showing a weather delay for the past hour and a half.

And the Orlando newspaper predicts light-to-heavy thundershowers all week long. I'm beginning to think that perhaps Orlando needs a better weatherman.

I'm gonna go check the weather delay status again. Thunderstorms, eesh!

I never experienced a rain delayed show! We marched a couple of rainy shows up around Seattle (the land of prepetual rain) with little ill effect to our equipment.

Esperanza step off time of 11:36 is now posted. Looks like a long night ahead for both you and your daughter. :D

Postin' the scores, folks, just postin' the scores. These are the drum corps that advance to the next round of competition:

Prelim results! Top 5 from Division 2, Top 7 from Division 3, then next 5 highest scores advance to Semifinals.

Division III
Blue Stars -- 88.75
Yamato -- 86.35
Marion Cadets -- 83.55
Lehigh Valley Knights -- 82.10
Raiders -- 81.50
Cadets of New York City -- 80.75
Teal Sound -- 80.00

Division II
Esperanza -- 94.70
Patriots -- 94.40
Spartans -- 94.10
East Coast Jazz -- 91.10
Jersey Surf -- 89.50

At-Large by Score
Revolution -- 88.20
Capital Sound -- 87.10
Impulse -- 85.40
Memphis Sound -- 82.45
Allegiance Elite -- 78.30

Notice, if you will, where my Esperanza ended up. In first place, by one whisker from a skinny cat over the Patriots, and one whisker from a husky cat over the Spartans.

Tomorrow is the individual and small ensemble competitions; the semifinals commence on Thursday.

I'm totally scrambled. I'm very, very happy for my kid, though! :D :D :D

Very impressive. Do you realize that the 94.7 score has only been beat by the top 2 Div 1's?

I very enthusiastically second OT's congrats!

Their show is called Reflections

1. "Mishima" - Philip Glass
2. "Concerto for Harpsichord and Orchestra" - Henryk Gorecki
3. "You're Still You" - Josh Groban
4. "Jubal Step" - Wynton Marsalis

and it's "Jubal Step" that they have cranked up to warp 8.

Deb called me back, the whole bus enjoyed my "WOO-HOO", and they're frazzled. They are staying at some high school right by Universal Studios, and they enjoy the nightly 9:00 fireworks.

She finds the swamp/pond/lake between the freeway lanes disturbing. California plants oleander shrubs in the places between the lanes and she's not used to ducks.

This is so much fun! I still wish I was in Orlando.

I'm really going to have to do Denver next year. And I won't need a hotel room there, my sister lives in Aurora.

You're making me regret my decision not to march this year! :( Oh well. Hopefully my sponsorship offer will still stand for next year... I'm going to look into that as soon as they get off the road.

Once again, congrats, looks like you are a mom of a 1st place corps! (Hope I didn't jinx it! <Sorry if I did>)

Do they have to tune the harpsichord before every show? I would think that with the climate changes and riding on the equipment truck nearly every day it would need it.... LOL :D
