Donna, don't go. Please stay. From what I know of you, I'm a little suspicious that you are pulling our legs, but if that's not the case, then please know that the vast majority of BBBzens are on your side. Just you give us some tracks and we'll round up a posse and have ourselves a little vigilance committee right here on the board. I'm still wondering what somebody could possibly say in an e-mail that would so get under your skin. Sticks and stones may break your bones, but what some knothead says in an e-mail can't hurt you, can it? In any case, our Colts are cocked and our Winchesters are loaded. Just tell us where to ride.

DONNA!!!!!!

You CAN'T give up posting on the BBB'S!!

You've been given a ROYAL command to that effect from HRH Nicole Marie...don't MAKE her come out there and whack you up side the head with her sceptre!

On the more serious side, why not get even with the nasty-posting S.O.B.'s and post what they sent you HERE...then sit back and let your BBB family rise to your defense?

I can't believe that you'd let someone get the better of you like that...you're too good at this stuff to let that happen!

C'mon, Donna! Whad'ya say?

(Don't make me beg...gets AWFULLY messy!!!)

Smiles, and lots of Josef Strauss to 'ya...

I hope my words reach their intended recipient, that being Donna.

One of the hazards of providing free email accounts to any and all is that the possibility is open for abuse, and occasionally an abuser will grab a beethoven.com email account. I've received a few emails myself that were questionable (to say the least), including a couple from beethoven email accounts. I don't know what they said to you to make you that uncomfortable, but I sympathize with your situation, and sincerely hope that you can come to the conclusions that the idiots do NOT rule and that you may safely return to a mostly polite, mostly thoughtful, and often intelligent bunch of friends at the BBB.

And, turn the SOBs in! Let Kevin toss their hineys off this board, and we'll keep an eye out for their like in the future. This Internet ain't big enough for me and anyone who would harass someone who has shown herself to be as caring as you have.

Hello all,

I leave for the weekend and all heck seemed to have broken loose =( First off.... Donna, please don't run off because there are a few losers that have nothing better to do then tick you off. Unfortunately, there are bad people out there but I know 99.9% of us in the forums are respectable people and would hate to see you leave.

Next, it seems there is a rash of this going around (prolly some bored idiot or two making good people's lives harder then it should be). I was listening on Friday during Nicole's shift and she mentioned that she got "flamed" by an "idiot" with a bum e-mail addy (so she could not even reply back). Is there anything we as the community can do to prevent this from happening? I'm sure that Eric, Dan, and Nicole do not need this kind of abuse either.

We love you guys for you hard work and hope a few losers don't get you down. Donna, I love reading your posts and replies so come on back to us! ;)

Donna Sweetie, Please don't go

I hope you don't mind but, I'd like to ask you three questions.

Do other people's opinions make you feel bad about yourself sometimes?

If some other person's opinion does make you feel bad about yourself, do you think it's because that person is just an abusive big jerk who probably makes everyone feel bad or because he/she may have some self-esteem issues or both?

How important to you are the opinions of others?

tell me how you feel about YOU.

Love you loads,
Lliam. ;)

Donna,
now if I was to be asked those three questions I would reply thus.

Other's opinions never make me feel bad about myself, unless I've done something to be ashamed of, in which case if I need someone else to point that out I've got much more going on than self-esteem issues.

Now... by others, do you mean people I know and trust who live in my heart's neighbourhood, or acquaintances/passers-by in my life?

I like a good *you go* now and then from my friends and family and boss. (Interesting to note the order I put that in, isn't it? Let me know when we start doing cut-rate psycho-ano. Heh) I pretty much always feel good about myself, because I believe that no one else can make me feel bad about me but ME.

I'm obviously high SE. :) :D

If someone feels threatened, shouldn't there be some legal repercussion? I hope I would be able to track the source of harassment and seek justice if I receive messages that make me decide that it is in my best interest to stop doing what I enjoy.

One of the good things about growing old is that the house is paid for, the children have grown, and I've no career to worry about. (I retire in 6 months.)

The sense of freedom all this gives is exhilarating. Every so often I have to stop and bring myself back down to earth, breathing deeply as I go.

I do wish Donna would publish those e-mails. I'd love to cut loose on them. :p (This is me licking my lips in anticipation!)

I hope I'm not out of line (Donna) for passing this along, but she deleted them, most as soon as she got them, so there's no way to trace them. IMO it's the work of an identity terrorist. She has been reading, and she really appreciates what everyone's said.

Hi.

I'm a bit back. How far? Don't know yet. Kinda depends. I guess I wasn't 100% gone anyway...as OT said, I've been reading. I wasn't going to read the BB at all. But, I got so many [nice] e-mails and PM that I thought I'd better look and see just what was going on. So, I read.

And, now, I'm rejoing the real world again. For one thing, some things need to be cleared up. And, for another, I don't like the sounds of hostility. And, for another, the shot the doctor gave me this noon has made me feel much better.

(Serenity, I'll use some bullets)

 • I never felt threatened. That is, my physical wellbeing was always OK. These were not threatening e-mails. They were "we don't like the stuff/style you're posting." As this was coming from many people, I took it that maybe my postings were out of line. I tease a lot. OT can testify to that. Some people don't like/understand teasing, thus the e-mails. At the time, figured, if this many people took the time to complain about my postings, then maybe most people don't like them.

 • It wasn't PM. It was e-mail to my Beethoven account and the account mentioned on my website.

 • I quit the BB because if I can't be myself, I don't want to have to censor everything I post.

 • I thank you for your offers, but I don't believe in vigilantism. I'll get the bloody #$%^ myself. Just wait! When you least expect it, I'll getcha!

 • Identity Theft (part1). Not mine, yours. At first, I thought it was getting e-mail from individual members of the BB. I now suspect that there was one person hijacking addresses. I know it can be done. How? Haven't a clue. As I got the e-mails, I read them, and then deleted them. Let this be a lesson to all of us. Never do that! If I had kept them, even one!, Nicole, Kevin or Chris probably could have traced them. I was just so glad to get rid of them, I didn't think. DUMB!

 • Identity Theft (part1). Whose names were used? I didn't recognize everyone's name, but there were several I did. I'm not giving out the names here. If I am wrong about one person sending all the e-mail, and it really was these individuals, it would look like they're out numbered.

 • To EJA: I would never pull anyone's leg like this. And, I'm still wanting for the solid day of Josef Strauss music!

 • To Barfle: If you do post the Richie Vallens song, I'm gone for good!!!

 • To John Nowacki: Welcome back. Don’t stay away. I’m sorry it took this to haul you out of your cave!

 • To Nicole: Thanks for listening!

 • To OT: Just plain thanks. What can I say? A good friend!

Enough of this mess. Hopefully, the idiot has learned a lesson. If nothing else if he sticks his head out again, we'll be ready for him this time. (No gender implied by that).

Again, thank every one of you for the postings, the PM and the [nice] e-mail.

Now, lets get on with cooking OT's goose...er, Bobcat.

Yay! Hi Donna!

I'm glad you didn't feel physically threatened, but it certainly sounds like the line of friendly criticism was crossed! Not cool, sorry you tripped this guy's trigger.

But, whether you got zapped by one or eight opinions, we got em out numbered, since I counted 20 well wishers at the least. I hope you get to feeling safe here again. Our hostility towards this trouble maker spans the gamut, but I hope that most of it is intended to be taken with a grain of salt. Overall we may be a somewhat sarcastic group so it's frusterating to me that they (he/she?) would focus in on you as queen sarcasticist.

Did they all show up in your mailbox within a short span of time? It's too bad you didn't save them indeed. Someone may have even forged the headers such that it only LOOKed like they came from seporate people, without even having to hack a login. The forgery is really easy to do moderately well, but neigh impossible to do perfectly. Ah well, whoever this is is probably still reading the board and sees the upset bees buzzing around. We'll never know who you are, most likely, but please, please behave! *grrr*

I do note that some newcomers have seen the "old couple's" syndrome, where we're sniping at eachother, but from my vantage point, most of it seems to be in fun, not bitterness, since there are emoticons galore.

Again, welcome 'back' and we'll try to make noise for you! :D

-Benito
