Serenity,

Here is a quote that I have in my office.

"We trained hard... but every time we formed up teams we would be reorganized. I was to learn that we meet any new situation by reorganizing. And a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while producing confusion, inefficciency and demoralization." ~ Petronius Arbiter, 210BC

Thanks Howard, I like it; I can relate easier to it than Kant's. I'm still scratching my head trying to figure out exactly what he is saying.

Serenity,
I work a day job and play music on the side.
The joke around our corporation was that once we had momentum going and started to get things done there would be a reorganization in the company and we had to start all over again. Subsequently, we never could complete tasks as the new management group wanted things their way and would change everything the previous team established. This gave the appearance of "Moving Forward" but nothing ever got done!

Regards,
Howard

Wow, Serenity, you must be hard up for affirmations if you resort to quoting Frau Doktor Schlessinger.

i believe it means if we lived life only by following morals "by the book" it doesn't necessarily mean we will lead an actual happy life.
however, if we include morals within the daily aspects of our lives, it will open our minds up to the the awareness of happiness.

Is this one better OT:

"I glance at the headlines just to kind of get a flavor for what's moving. I rarely read the stories, and get briefed by people who are probably read the news themselves."
~George W. Bush

This is an affirmation in the sense that it makes me feel better about myself.

I think I should have no other mortal wants, if I could always have plenty of music. It seems to infuse strength into my limbs and ideas into my brain. Life seems to go on without effort, when I am filled with music.

my freedom will be so much the greater and more meaningful the more narrowly i limit my field of action and the more i surround myself with obstacles.

whatever diminishes constraint diminishes strength. the more constraints one imposes, the more one frees one's self of the chains that shackle the spirit.
