Departure from the PiqOToids once the Tenor is suitably attired for the boonies. I discussed it with the Altoid and she agreed that ribs was a good idea, but that she was still in Arizona. Seemed concerned about the scheduling.

How did we ever organize things before cell phones? Used to not have one, didn't want one, kids had to drag me kicking and screaming into cellphone ownership. Now if it isn't in my pocket I'm incomplete and insecure.

Ribs at Fat Ivor's were spectacularly good, as usual. Haggis, you were missed.

We thought of you North-Right-Coasters on the way out to Valley Center. In particular, we thought we should mention the fields full of tomato plants (not yet ready for harvest, they'll be ripe a little later in the season) and the oranges and peppers.

I spotted a particularly self-confident crow sharing a streetlight with a hawk. I've never seen that before. They weren't there on the way back, and I wonder how it worked out for the crow.

The Arizona branch of the Operatoids agreed unanimously that next year's Thanksgiving feast will be 'catered' by Fat Ivor's, with a singing driver to deliver. Sides will be produced locally.

I am so jealous.

But bar and I are heading to the neighborhood over the Christmas holidays. Dare we schedule another meet so soon?

Hi Everyone!
Hope you are all well.

been away for a couple of weeks....

I took a fall from a ladder a week ago yesterday... while putting up X-Mas Lights.
Twisted my knee and have been unable to work or move about....

Good news is the swelling of the knee is going down and I'm gaining movement in my leg.
Mobility today relies on using crutches.. hopefully another week and I will be able to
get around (slowly) without them....

can't drive as it is my right knee so I have a great neighbor who will be taking me to and
from work this week...

anyway, trying to catch up on the bbb and hope everyone had a great thanksgiving!!!!

regards,
TM

T/M

Sorry to hear about it. Hope your recovery is quick and thorough.

I don't do Christmas lights. I live in the boonies, where few will see them, so their not missed. I simple, quiet Christmas tree is adequate. Oh, and we have a leg lamp which we place in the front-room window, though few ever see it since we're off the beaten path. It just wouldn't be Christmas without it. :)

Thanks for all your well wishes... Doing better each day.....

Jamie,
I think Shapley was referring to the Leg Lamp in the movie "Chrismas Story".
It plays each Christmas Day over and over and over all day long...
Very funny movie!!!

Regards,
TM.

Oh!! Yeah! I forgot about that. That is indeed a funny movie and we always watch it at least once. There are so many cliches and memories form childhood in there.

Yes, A Christmas Story is a favourite around our house. I received a leg lamp as a gift from the wife a few years ago (It even came with a certificate designating it as a "Major Award".) Every Year we bring it down from the spare room and place it in the front window at Christmas time.

The movie is a classic, as is the lamp. :D

BY ALL MEANS!!!

Of course, anyone else who'd like to come for a visit would be most welcome.

What's the travel time from Palo Alto to yer neck of the woods on a weekend? There's a good chance I will be traveling there over a weekend and be bored out of my skull with unlimited mileage on the rental car.

Rough estimate: 8 hours of driving if you take the scenic coast route. About 90 min less if you stay more inland (101 instead of 1). If you take I-5? I have no idea. Ask AAA ?

OT's estimate may be significantly shorter. He does a lot more passing than I do.
Selma, what's your take on it?
