None of our patients were allowed to eat cause if a c-section needed to be done or if the patient got knocked out somehow, aspirated stomach contents is never a good thing to deal with. That still didn't stop some of our patients from secretly eating whoppers...they hid the sandwich then left the wrappers in plain site and with whopper breath denied having eaten the food. did I mention these weren't the most compliant of patients?

OT, while I don't recommend you staring at the exit door for long periods of time (it will only give you PTSD), at least take a peak when the kid's head is finally out since the rest comes out fairly quickly and my male classmates said that was the best part to watch when their kids were born. But then again my dad says the best place to be is not in the delivery room...he can't stand the sight of blood and bodily fluids.

Hmmm...reading my posts I just realized why my mom and my bro's mother in law made me promise on my life and future success not to tell my sister in law anything about what I have seen and learned in medical school about babies and having them. She may never have another kid if I share.

I probably will peek at some point(s). I won't be able to completely override my curiosity.
PTSD = ? (tried to come up with something witty - failed miserably)

If Piq's eating ice chips then you're eating ice chips. You better not smell like Whopper; pregnant women have a heightened sense of smell and emotions.

Actually, I think I'll be in bigger trouble if I have Jack's Spicy Chicken Sandwich breath.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (shell shock).

Great, so if I need a C-section, they'll have to pump my stomach first!

I have no intention of eating a full meal (much less a greasebomb like a whopper) but if I dont snack and labor is long, the staff, my family and anyone in reach is in danger. I go completely Mr Hyde from hunger. I wish I didnt, but there it is.

If I'm eating ice chips, they better be made from ice-cream or at least fruit juice. :D

<please note, I have no objections to grease bombs, they just digest very slowly.>
Altoid - curiously strong.

Okay, I'm afraid. Especially since I'm the hand-holder.

Isn't there Crab Rangoon in CA? You're closer to Asia!

Anything that starts w/ 8 oz cream cheese is unlikely to be straight asian cuisine - they're not big on dairy foods. Now, if it had started "6 oz silken tofu and 2 oz red miso" that would've been asian!

I'm going to have to try that. Mix cream cheese, crab, onions, & garlic, season up a bit, make little lumpia and fry. Yup, I can do that.

Wow, just had a thought. How about the tofu and some of the spicy bean paste for a base? Hmmmm...

My wife had a terrible tear with our second son, (that little sucker shot out of her like a navy gun) and was in a lot of pain. I was prepared though, I had a story to tell her that took her mind off the pain until she could be anesthetized and taken to the suture room.

So OT, get a story ready of a warm and pleasant memory for Pic and be prepared to tell it in the greatest of detail. I chose experiences from our honeymoon. The midwives told me I did a very good job of calming her and keeping her mind occupied.

My wife also used the hottub to ease the pain and relax her during labor. She almost fell asleep at one point.
