"The Kerry plan would expand the amount of state and federal money spent on healthcare without providing any incentive for curtailing the cost. It's a mid-twentieth century solution for a very 21st century problem. Add to that Kerry's espoused willingness to sacrifice everything to keep it solvent and you have a recipe for disaster. The only saving grace is that Kerry so rarely means what he says."

I read the Kerry plan from his website. Nothing but smoke and mirrors, protecting the insurance industry and their profits. I can't believe anyone except a health insurance executive would be satisfied with it. If that was we were presented with, I'd rather go with Barfle's version of totally free-market health care. Giving insurance companies more protection is diametrically opposed to what's good for the American people.

Anyone read the latest news about Spitzer going after P&C Insurers?

I'd be willing to bet Health Insurance companies are next on the list and I hope they are. We've reached critical mass corruption/quasi ethical business practices.

Health insurance can NOT work like P&C insurance where agents make more money selling a particular carrier rather than finding what product best suits the customer. Customers have no practical way of shopping health insurance except by price. "Buyer beware", right.

If you think frivolous law suits contribute to health care costs, wait til you see what they dig up in the insurance racket.

PS, P&C stands for Property & Casualty.

Ah, but they do. I hope health insurance is next. If it's done properly, the industry won't be able to stand up to the scrutiny. At least, not without a lot of bribery and deal-making.

Who knows, if Spitzer can cause the intdustry to reform quickly and thoroughly enough, Kerry won't need to interdict.
