Insane in the Membrane

Postby lioness » Thu Jan 20, 2005 5:16 pm

Today's Headline in classical music history:
Woman Committed from Four Seasons

Denver- Crazed guitar player and composer, Lioness of BBB, was found crouched in a corner drooling and rocking to and fro. It seems she was drastically trying to plug her ear canals with coffee grinds from the office kitchen in hopes to escape the repetitive sound of Vivaldi's Four Season's.

Reports from her office peers claim she first ran around with her hands over her ears screaming "How many times must everyone [classical music stations] play it?!?!"

Lioness has been transferred to the University Medical Center via white coat and industrial strength earplugs for further mental evaluation.

Lioness,

At least you can join the Bolero Burnouts and the Revenge Aria Wrecks. You could start a new support group, the Four Seasons Fruitcakes

As one of the Revenge Aria Wrecks (and it's nice to know that at least I have company in my disdain for that piece), it does seem like a request-driven station tends to play the music you love to hate.

At least it seems that way every now and then. One group that got left off the listings is the Grand Canyon Gaggers and The Planets Party Poopers, two works that I happen to really like, but that seem to get a lot of play on beethoven "radio."

Lioness,
The Mousekateers on the old Mickey Mouse Club show used to sing "Now its time to say goodbye......... and the last thing they would do is spell M I C K E Y M O U S E.

This was just adding mayhem to the alphabet soup.

You can add Russian Easter Overture and The Moldau to the list of enjoyable, but overplayed, works. We need to expand our request repertoire.

I tried to break the mold by requesting something by Fritz Kreisler the other day.

Let's see if we can't pull some more requests that break the mold. I'll have to see what else I can come up with that doesn't get requested too often.

p.s. oh mighty trumpet master: yeah, i know. that’s why i threw in the mouse ears comment. my mom stopped feeding me alphabet soup. i would make such a mess trying to put together words on the table with the pasta. phrases were MUCH harder! what a mess!!!

Hi Mary,

Yes, I passed through 4,000 with no fanfare. :crocodile tears: I get no respect!

Yes, Dan, brave soul that he is, played it for me one day, and I happened to be listening at the time. It was wunnaful!

Hey, I have to come back to work at 10PM tonight and work till the sun comes up. Pass those coffee grinds to me.

We could ask to play
Alban Berg - Violin Concerto, Wozzeck,
OR
Janacek - Sinfonietta,
OR, Charles Gounod - Faust Ballet Music,

Oh gosh another ballet. don't think I had that on my list.

What about some Max Bruch. He wrote 3 symphonies and lots of chamber music.

ughh. too long a day....
