Don't be too hard on BR. They're playing the "Alto Raphsody" now. I hardly ever hear that outside my own stereo. My first copy, with Helen Watts, wore out but I've gone back in time & replaced it with Kathleen Ferrier's version. The difference in recording technology shows, but I could listen to K all day, no matter what she sang.

Well, I hope you were all listening yesterday when I requested Charles Griffes. They didn't play the one I requested, (Poem for Flute and Orchestra - another total self interest request ), but they did play Griffes.

for the most part, i have noticed they may not have the particular piece that's requested, but mostly have the composer.

don't feel too bad RC, they don't have alot of the pieces i have asked for. i'll just keep trying or eventually bring in some cd's to work, burn 'em and send 'em to BR!

I may be wrong, but I don't think they can play burned cd's due to copyright infringement. I have sent them a couple of used cd's in the past of things I hoped they would play(that's why I know they have the Cherubini Requiem ). It's legal to burn cd's for personal use, just like cassette tapes, etc., but not for redistribution or profit. (Right, Barfle?)

I have to admit that my best answer is "I believe so."

I believe that HRH has noted here that they won't accept copies for airplay.

However, I have a friend in New Hampshire who has a weekly radio show, and I've sent him tapes of some of my obscure and bizarre collection, and he's played them. The minutiae of the legalities aren't anything I've gotten into, but I believe the station's ASCAP and BMI fees cover the copyright issues.

He does not stream live, although he does have shows available on his website.
