Well, if she wants a mudslide, it'll have to be a TGIFridays Random event. I may need a designated driver. Son's girlfriend may get tagged, she's under 21 and thus likely to be sober...

So, SB, watcha doing July 23? Are you anywhere near San Antonio? Can you find the alamodome? You can sit with me and cheer for Esperanza, as well as all the other corps. Bring the guy, leave the cats home.

Hey, Haggis! How's the noise tolerance on you and the mrhyn? Up for drum corps show? How 'bout the boys?

Anyone else? Mid-continent semi-Random disaster in the works?

Selma, no plans as of yet for July 23rd. Will be back from the UK for a month or so. . .it's a Saturday. . .of COURSE I know where the Alamodome is. . .I've got friends who live in San Antonio, so built in FREE lodging! (I've actually performed in the Alamodome before, one year during the Alamobowl). Sounds like plan! I had pencilled it in!
:)
Yay! A Random event in Texas, how fun is that??

Selma, after enough kahlua-based mudslides, mudsliding down the back hill could be a lot of fun - what a lovely idea!

Then, we'll build the stairs as we go, so we can get back up. (unsober, that hill might be tooooo tough to wiggle up - even grasping the iceplant!)

'saplan.
Altoid - curiously strong.

No problem. We meet at irregular intervals for varying events, or no event at all, have no particular qualities in common except that we're all b.com listeners residing in or around the San Diego area. There is no plan, and no leader. The "Random" thing started as (predictably) a pun owing to the non-patterned nature of our assorted activities. And actually getting a Random event off the ground is like organizing a cat-herding contest.

Some are married, some not, some haven't said. Doesn't seem to matter. No partner-switching that I'm aware of but then I might have missed something. And it seems that the PhD candidates are in Texas. :(

If you and OT get enough 2x12's notched up to stake into the hillside, I suppose we could stake 'em as we slide down, and nail on the treads as we make our way back up. Are you going to insist on handrails? Altoid, Sr. Bird, and I will stay up top and throw down supplies.

As a safety measure, may I suggest a really sturdy stake at the top, with a nice fat knotted climbing rope securely attached, before we begin this project? Iceplant isn't all that sturdy unless you're trying to tear it out, at which point it becomes un-yankable.

We're actually building the stairs out of cement flags and slump block risers, with shorts rebars driven into the ground to anchor. Way back when I cleared the path for it(will have to redo as the ice plant hath reencroacheth), I built a set of long wooden tracks to run baskets of step material down the hill. It has continued in its utility by sliding cans of green waste down the hill to add to the compost heap.

We still have the old stairway at the other end of the slope. It is a rather haphazard assortment of railroad tie pieces rather haphazradly installed, some steps staked, most not, and the treads are inconsistent.

Tag, most of the Phds I was speaking of are here. . .I'm not sure I could convince most of them to travel to CA, but we do have several going for a scientific convention to San Diego in April!

Haven't looked yet, but is that the "famous" EDS cat herding commercial? If so, that's my company! Some people walk around with cat herding pictures on their coffee mugs.
