Diamonds in the mail!

Postby RC » Sat Feb 26, 2005 8:10 am

Raymond Jewelers had a promo advertisement on the beethoven.com site just before Valentines day.

Guess who won a diamond!!

A pretty little quarter karat, just perfect for my daughters birthday in April. So everyone there in CT, stop in and say thanks for me.
They have a website too but I think I'm already pushing the envelope here. ;)

WHY are they a girl's best friend? i never understood that saying.

there's a custom Jackson [guitar] out there for around $2600. that's around the price for a decent ring, right?

I think (theory only) its because:

a "nice girl" can't accept money from a man, but she can accept a nice gift of blingbling,
AND
unlike cash, diamonds don't depreciate, don't devalue, and can be easily hidden for transport if necessary. And of course, they can be sold to cover living expenses when in time of need.

Plus, they make a 'girl' look good. A blaze of defracted light under the jawline does wonders to hide life's little flaws and imperfections.

And of course, because DeBoers spends lots and lots of money each year to send us that message. Have you run across ads for "the right hand ring" yet? Thats where we modern empowered woman are supposed to put a diamond ring we buy for ourselves. <having trouble breathing from simply typing that astonishing inanity>

If you stare long enough at a diamond, its history will be revealed to you.

IMU: Girls who were worried about their reputations couldnt accept jewelry or money. It was the girls who werent expecting a proposal, but who couldnt afford to be downgraded from mistress to prostitute that needed those diamonds.

I've never been in any of those three situations, personally.
