I was in San Diego on Business a few years ago.
There was a great restaurant at some pier (can't remember) but going in I remember a sign that said "Tuna Park".

Right up your ally Lioness!!

Food was great back then, If I could only remember the name of the restaurant....

I wouldn't mind going back to San Antonio...great bar-BQ!

Riverwalk area of the city is beautiful...

However, avoid the Botanical Gardens during droughts...unless Tumbleweeds count as Botanicals.

I'm planning separation anxiety for summer.

Shipping my oldest off to stay with her aunty in Australia and then off to music camp when she returns from that. WAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!

Her poor sister will get the brunt of my clinginess I'm afraid. I'd like to join the youngest in her Gung Fu or some other such. Hope she doesn't get too embarrassed. :D

RC,
This summer I'm planning a break from this infernal Boston traffic. That will be a vacation in itself! Often takes me 2 hours to get into work! There must be other Beethovenites with similar snarls and distance?

I'm scheming my way to San Antonio for the DCI Southwestern drum corps show. Of special interest to brass players, percussion players, guard/dance kids, and general-interest marching band geeks. If you enjoyed marching band in high school or college, you might like to join us? I believe Saxy Buff and friend(s) are thinking it over.

Also, the corps director has a free day planned in New Orleans. Denizens of the area are encouraged to explain to me why my just-turned-21 daughter couldn't possibly get into trouble in turned loose for a day in New Orleans.

I'd also like to make it to finals again - they're at Gillette stadium this year. Never been to New England, always thought it was mythical.

ScottB,
A motorcycle in Boston would get me zipping around the traffic but I may not live to tell the tale!

C'mon Sadie Lady,

What's not to love about Rte. 93 and 128!

Hmmm, I recall that Quincy is but 7 miles outside of Boston, but even the Red Line took over 45 minutes (some days) to get from Quincy Center to South Station (and then you have to add for the door to door time overall).

There are many things to miss about Boston (commuting to and from work is not one of them).

Oh, and I don't miss the Red Sox either, but then again, I'm a pinstriped-blood Yankees Fan!

Well David,
I love sports too, originally from NY at a time when the Mets were the team to beat! I was amazed to see the Yankees go down 4 straight like that. What do you think happened?

As for the commute- I would imagine if you're going from RI into MA, you have a tough haul every day as well....

Sox vs. Yankee's for spring training right here in my home town today. Too bad I'm not a sports fan.

I'm from New York as well, Sadie, upstate, in fact (So I'm also a huge NY Giants NFL fan too.)

It's pretty simple regarding last year: Pitching, Pitching, Pitching.

The Yanks staff had struggled from mid-season on, however, the offense was strong enough to pull the team through against the lesser teams in the league.

4 Straight to me is no big deal. Heck, the Cardinals lost 4 straight as well, but that was the start to a series rather than the end.

So MANY Sox fans are boasting about the down 3-0, and then won 4 straight, again, if you lose 4 straight, to me it doesn't matter at what point in the Series you do it. It simply means, Series over.

When a team such as the Yankees, plays in as many playoffs' situations, as they have historically done, strange things are bound to happen both for and against them statistically. Unfortunately, fans are sometimes either too unknowledgeable to realize the logistics of the game as a whole.

It's a different season, and it will certainly be a better year for the Yanks, the offense is intact and their pitching is far superior to last year.

Personally, I'm looking forward to the Giants next Fall as well. They have made so much needed and interesting moves.

Yankee pitching was suspect all season.
They took care of that in the off-season!

TrumpetMaster,

You a Mets or Yanks fan from LI? LI is usually Mets, Jets, and Islanders...my college roommate from the 80's was from Commack, his fiance, South Bellmore. Both Mets, Jets, Islanders.

Meanwhile, updstaters like myself, more traditional -- Yanks, Giants, Rangers...mostly...

Yanks staff is certainly equipped on paper, however, Wright is questionable, and there's still downtown Kevin Brown.

Selma, of course she can get into trouble. But why would she? There's so much to do that it would be tough to be bored enough to get into trouble in one short day. Aint that the joy of 21 - old enough to get oneself out of trouble too! ;)

Dave,
I'm a Yankees fan.
I grew up in Queens 15-20 minutes from Shea Stadium. Want to see the Mets do well, but if it were head to head.. Go Yankees!

Wright will be fine as most of the attention will be on Johnson. Kevin Brown will be the Yanks trump card this year.
They look great on paper. Now all they have to do is have that pitching staff do what it is capable of and... AH Another World Series!!!!!
-----------------------------------------------
Also, I'm a Ranger Fan, DIE HARD JETS FAN,
and NY Knick Fan.

Is it opening day yet??????????

I take the T, an hour+ to work. no problems with the T, except for annoying operators, late/missing/packed bus/trolley, and flying pieces of metal that almost take my head with them. highly recommended!

Yanks look great on paper if you ommit the column that says "age". and Wright had Leo mazzone as his pitching coach last year. the guy works miracles, he can't keep up such an ERA in the AL with his only decent K/BB ratio. he'll be a good pitcher but he won't have a sub-4.00 ERA.
