This sounds like an actual plan. I assume we will be able to find Casa de Bandini without too much difficulty.

It's in the Bazaar del Mundo and they claim to be very, very good - Casa de Bandini's Ad. We can do a Random pickup-and-ferry, or the hotel concierge will also be able to give you a map to Old Town and the Bazaar del Mundo.

OT's beloved Fat Ivor's also has merit as a lunch/dinner site; Valley Center is a lovely drive. If a person wanted to see the Wild Animal Park in the morning and afternoon, you'd be halfway to Valley Center already. Just a thought.

Hi Bones,

Selma's a lifesaver with Igor! If you all carpooled, we can meet up with you in the Ugly Truckling, which will be pulling pram hauling duty. What hotel are you staying in?

I would suggest Fat Ivor's/Wild Animal Park as more of an all day trip as well..................so what're y'all doin' Monday?!!

We're at the Marriott near the Convention Center. As long as the taxis work, we can get anywhere a cab can go. How far is Casa di Bandini from the Convention Center?

Fat Ivor's sounds like my kind of place, but it sounds like might be quite a haul to get there. Did you say about an hour's drive?

I'm not sure what's on the mandatory schedule for Monday, but I don't think we can get the whole day free. I think my wife has to actually do something at the convention.

Ok, daughter #2 said she'd like to go to the Organ Recital, so just 2 seats for us. Sounds like fun.

Its about 4 miles from the hotel to Old Town.

You could take the trolley instead of a cab. I think its a short walk from your hotel, and the main trolly station is about 1/4 mile from the restaurant. Lots more hassle than a cab probably.

FYI: Old Town park is located on San Diego Avenue and Twiggs Street in San Diego,CA Latitude/Longitude: 32.7542 / -117.1961
Casa de Bandini is in Bazaar del Mundo, which is within Old Town.

Hi Bones, Casa de Bandini(Old Town San Diego, for that matter) is about 2 mi due north from the convention center as the crow flies, but is relatively complicated to get to. However, it is a fairly familiar tourista spot, so any cab driver ought to know about it.

This may not be my place to suggest, but it seems like an idea worth proffering: How about if the Boneses cab it to Old Town, then would Igor's services for carpooling be available from there to the park, and [word invention] whereverafter [/word invention]?

Hi FS,

Cool! We look forward to adding your distinctiveness to the collective...................uh, I mean, meeting you............yeah, that's it, meeting you.

I will bring Igor; could pick up the Boneses or they could cab over.

Piq's miles are shorter than OT's? I'd guesstimate the distance at four or five miles, myself. I'm a classic California thinker. Old Town is about fifteen minutes from the Convention Center... :D

how about -= Boneses cab to Casa de Bandini, and Igor from there to Balboa Park?

Mapquest made me a map from Balboa Park to Fat Ivor's. 36.69 miles, estimated time 47 minutes. I shall put the map in Igor. Just in case.

That sounds pretty easy and uncluttered. Works for me.

There's more on the Random thread.

The Boneses got to lunch at the Casa de Bandini, heard a concert at the organ pavilion, and yesterday got hauled out to OT's favorite rib joint. Sightseeing was accomplished along the way and apparently Sandy Eggo countryside is different from that in DC. It helps that our weeds look pretty good this year.

Mrs. Bones and Mr. Bones are both delightful company and it was good to have them visit. We're giving them a permanent California visa... :D
