I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner. You guys are a riot!!! Please carry on.

When some Indian names were translated into english, they came out as descriptive compounds like Sharpnose, Flathead, Yellowhair, Bentfoot, etc...

The Scottish name was americanized the same way, as a word descriptive of a physical characteristic.
