That's Extraordinary!

Postby DavidEB310 » Tue Mar 22, 2005 10:22 am

"You Spock...a guess...That's Extraordinary!" -- William Shatner as Admiral James Tiberius Kirk to Leonard Nimoy as Capt. Spock in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (Spock is computing time travel calculations taking into account additonal mass of water and 2 Humpback Whales).

Why? Because today is William Shatner's 74th Birthday!!! Saturday is Leonard Nimoy's!!! Happy Birthday Capt. Kirk and Live Long and Prosper Mr.Spock!

I'm a trekkie and proud.

P.S. For those questioning...The rank of Admiral is stripped from Kirk at movie's end and he is returned to rank of Capt.

How about the "antique" Trekkie fans....
My space ship runs on dilithium crystals "I dun't have the power, Captain"
I use my tricorder to assess patients as in "He's dead, Jim"
Favorite episode is "The Empath"

And I heard Leanord Nimoy is doing some pretty interesting books/photos described as "eerily beautiful photographic study of the female form reveals Nimoy's intrigue with scriptural mythology and ancient spirituality"- from the Kaballah.

"Mr. Spock the love jock" was the pun I heard on the radio.

Well just goes to show you that Mr. Spock's human half has perservered well into old age!

Best Bad Album: SPOCK SINGS.

I have it on original vinyl. Nimoy lamenting "Where is Love" from Oliver I believe or there is the classic "Music to Watch Space Girls By..."

Fav. Episode TOS -- Hands down -- MIRROR MIRROR (Spock with a Beard, Marla Capt.'s quarters, Sulu with a scar lured by Uhura, Chekov launches a mutiny...)

Fav. Character TOS -- BONES McCoy

Fav. Episode TNG -- Q episodes all!

One More TNG movie with Q would be great!

Voyager Fav. Character -- Seven of Nine -- (yum.) Okay, for real -- I liked the Doctor and Neelix.

Deep Space Nine Fav. Character -- Sisko (because he was a huge old-time Baseball Fan -- sadly, baseball was extinct in the future.) I loved when he attempted to teach the DS9 staff the game.

okay...I'll stop...Sadie and TrumpetMaster -- need input...input...input (oops...that's Short Circuit's Johnny Five!)

"Best Bad Album: SPOCK SINGS."
Will have to check this one out!

I think my favorite from the original serious was the Planet Killer!

Also - the trouble with tribbles!!!

Next Generation - Anything with the BORG in it!

Regards,
TM

TrumpetMaster -- that's the beauty of Q Who? for TNG -- Q introduces the Enterprise to the Borg!

BTW, I have an original tribble from a Star Trek Newspaper Catalog that was published back in 1975. It's a white shorthair (I named it Spiffy -- got the name from the animated Odd Couple cartoon on Saturday mornings.)

There were some episodes of the original that were pretty avant garde. I seem to remember a Roman theme with these Roman Gods forcing Kirk and was it Spock to get it on with Uhura and Yeoman Janice? Pretty thought provoking stuff for a young kid....now where WAS the FCC then-
Nowadays they worry about kids watching Spongebob!

Wasn't "The Meangerie" one of the more famous episodes?

That was "Plato's Stepchildren" Sadie.

That episode was historic because it was the first-interracial kiss on television (Kirk and Uhura).

Dave,
Yes, Q was definitely a character. I like the episode where he lost his powers and all the beings whom he put down over the years came to get him, and the Enterprise protected Q.
Fun stuff.
That's cool you have a tribble. Bet it's worth something. Not that you would sell it , but it would be interesting to know.

Or, as my wife puts it Sadie, "You're a Nerd."

That's why she's with me; she's very attracted to Nerds.

Now that is interesting. Most women will chose Captain Kirk the first time, ---then maybe Spock for a little variety.... For a woman to be exclusively attracted to nerds-well...Maybe she likes being "Sulued" ???

Wow! Someone else with "eclectic" tastes! I took a "Science Fiction" literature class and played it for them. "Where is Love" didn't exactly receive a standing ovation.

barfle,

RE: Spock Sings -- Even the dogs won't howl when it's playing...(I think they're in disbelief?)

I took a Sci-Fi Lit. class back in college circa 1984 -- I learned about my love of Heinlen due to that course. What I remember reading:

A Canticle for Liebowitz - Miller
1984 - Orwell
Stranger In A Strange Land -- Heinlen
2001 and 2010 -- Clarke
The Lathe of Heaven -- Le Guin
The Man in The High Castle - Dick

A ton of short stories, by the above, plus of course, Bradbury, Assimov, etc.
