Oh yes, Angie, they do indeed. Its a 5000 year old tradition. It has its good and its bad points! Thats why, until the Cultural Revolution, Chinese who could read and write, could read Confucius et al in the original text.

I just get a kick out of imagining what it would be like to take a train straight across, experiencing all the different versions of "6 am". :D
