"It's sad that women can legally do that to a man. Who is to say that 100% of the time children are better off with the mother?? I know quite a few cases where that is not right.
<sigh> Maybe within the next few years, we'll make headway in our culture and it will be ok for there to be single, divorced dads."

Saxy you are so right and it's a great first step when women can recognize this injustice to men. What amazes me is how these same "Vampire Women" go on to other relationships, hungry to suck on some fresh blood, I suppose. Don't these men see what they've done to the previous husband and wonder what will happen to them in turn?

Kids are the big losers as these women invariably alienate the children from the father. The legal term is called "parent alienation syndrome" and courts are increasingly recognizing it although it costs a lot of clams to litigate. If successfully proven the custody will be awarded to the father and the mother then has to pay him child support!

Hope all those wronged fathers out there are hanging in....Every Vampire will eventually meet up with their own Silver Stake!

I love my wife, and I'm sure she loves me, but man, do conversations like this make me glad we don't have kids!

Wow, do you know my ex ?? I have a friend who described my ex using a few words that he had to explain. One was sociopath...unable to see things from another person's perspective. I can't recall the other word (ed: pathological), but in essence he said people like that are very convincing actors. She played the femme fatal role well when I got together with her. She was divorcing husband number 2 and portrayed him, to me, as a control freak SOB. Since she left me I have gotten to know him and learned that he was victimized just like me. Less than 60 days after our divorce, she married husband number 4. I am sure that I am protrayed, to him, as a control freak SOB.

She is pretty good at this too, though recently it has tapered off...I guess because she no longer has an affair to hide. I would LOVE for her to learn what it is like to be a secondary parent and have to pay me. She once told me I was LUCKY to have the visitation that I have, trying to sound like she is so generous with my son's time. Meanwhile, now another man (and he's a jerk that left his wife of 31 years for my ex) gets to influence my sweet little boy every day!

Hope all those wronged fathers out there are hanging in....Every Vampire will eventually meet up with their own Silver Stake!
Looking forward to that. Maybe I will request the Revenge Aria! :) Speaking of that, I am going to see "The Magic Flute" tonight!!!!

My best revenge, I know, is to ignore her ranting and let her live in the chaotic circus that is going on in her head. :)

Gee, I must sound like a tenor warming up (me me me me)!

Regards,
Tim B.

Sadie- I know Tim's case is not the only one. My aunt (whose only child was 17 at the time) had an affair with a co-worker while married to her 2nd husband (who was not her son's father). She told the family (except for my mom and I) that her husband had been emotionally abusive and that she just couldn't take it anymore. Divorced her hubby -my beloved uncle, who treated me like his own- and married the co-worker. The co-worker is a really nice guy, I like him a lot. Guess he's my new uncle. They've made it ten years now, we'll see, I guess, how long they last. I finally got to see my (divorced) uncle a few years ago when my cousin got married. He has since re-married a nice widow with a daughter and they now have two (or more) kids together. He seems happy and my aunt seems happy, so I guess I should be too.
It just seemed really weird that it came out of left field for us. Very odd.

Tim,
Glad you are so involved with music and other "good" things.

I do wonder about those men first getting involved with women in these bitter, contentious "ex" situations. It's got to be uncomfortable for them. I suspect they see it from another point of view and I'm curious. Any takers???

David
Sounds like you hit the jackpot with lucky #3! Your vampires are all fictional characters! Advice for those not so lucky as to what to look for?

How about?

One man's ex is another man's treasure (sometimes...).

Getting married multiple times is like playing the lottery, the more you play the better the odds?

Find a really ugly ugly woman, she's more apt to agree with her husband so she doesn't end up alone again. (okay, maybe I shouldn't offer advice...)

I hear City of Angels really sucked, but I liked the original Wim Wenders version "Der Himmel Ueber Berlin" (The Heaven over Berlin) which has an excellet plot and cinematography.

there were many parts in the move that really were corny. i really got into the "concept" of falling from grace.

i really enjoy the soundtrack.

never knew of it. thanks tbp!

I have to admit that I watched the DVD Version of "Vampyres" (also known sometimes as "Daughters of Dracula") last night. A little slow at times, but also exciting, fun, and HOT!

Good 1974 flick!

No, no, no Tim. You need to have a more comprehensive plot. How about "Battle of the Vampiress"?
You could put your ex and DavidEBs in a room together and see whose fangs are sharper!
Enjoy your weekend music!

lol, I'd be rooting for David's ex, he would be rooting for mine. Maybe we'd BOTH win! :)

Thanks, I shall. Anyone want a post opera report?

lioness -
If you liked City you should totally check out Der Himmel. While technically in German (with subtitles) I'd say at least a good third of it's in English. And Peter Falk's in it, so how can you go wrong? :) Also there's a sequel to it called "In weiter Ferne so Nah" (Far Away So Close) that continues the story of the angels and how they adapt to mortal life.
